Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Sunday, March 14. 2010Netanyahu is being Sharoned by the Obama AdministrationWhat the heck is the Hurva, and what is its current role in Israel-Palestinian and Israel-US tensions? The Hurva (“ruin” or “wreck” in Hebrew) has become a target for the Palestinian campaign to denigrate Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu is trying to avoid being smeared as was former Prime Minister Sharon as justification for Palestinian attacks upon Israel and Israelis, that the Obama administration is in its misguided incompetence encouraging. Former Prime Minister Sharon was falsely accused of inciting the Second Intifada by the Palestinians by his visit to the
Before Here’s an aerial photo from 1940. The Jewish quarter is at the bottom of the image. The two large domes are the Hurva Synagogue, at the lower right, and the Tiferes Yisrael Synagogue. Both were destroyed by the Jordanians in 1948, after starving out the Jewish inhabitants of the Jewish Quarter.
In 1948, British officers led their Arab Legion to destroy the Hurva, and other synagogues in the Jewish Quarter. The Jordanian commander is reported saying: "For the first time in 1,000 years not a single Jew remains in the Jewish Quarter. Not a single building remains intact. This makes the Jews' return here impossible." In sum:
Christians also suffered under Jordanian rule.
Israel commemorated the Hurva site with an arch. Eight years ago a reconstruction of the Hurva started, and is to be opened this Monday. (Notice that the nearby Moslem minaret is undamaged under Israeli rule, as all Moslem and Christian sites are not damaged by Israel, in contrast to the fate of Jewish sites under Moslem rule.) As an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal concludes: “What is clear is that the inauguration of the old-new Hurva—twice destroyed, and now twice rebuilt—represents a deep and irrepressible Israeli urge to heal and rebuild, not in order to obscure memory but to preserve it.” But, the Palestinians, seeking another way to attack

This reflected the Obama administration’s anxiety to show some progress after a year of alienating Israel has good reason to be protective of its heritage sites, as demonstrated by the October 2000 Palestinian sacking and burning of Joseph’s Tomb in Nablus and the September 2000 destruction of archeological remnants of the Jewish Temple on the Mount. Other examples. We know the Palestinians won’t be satisfied by anything less than the utter destruction of As Caroline Glick said last June in receiving a prestigious honor: “Our enemies are right in choosing their targets. They are right because they know who we are. We are the children of P.S.: Worth reading at the Washington Post. The unreality of Obama's Israel policy. Also see Obamá's latest pretext for attacking Israel at Powerline. UPDATE March 16: The New York Times reports on the Hurva dedication, sorta. But forgets to mention that Hamas announced a "day of rage" for Tuesday and that Fatah echoes in competition for being worthy negotiation partners, according to Obama anyway.

Not a Jew.
Read a book called Exodus when I was 12. I guess my position has been established. There would not be a living breathing Palestinian on the planet tomorrow if I was God. I'm an American. I can out-evil them any day of the week and twice on Friday. I think maybe American Jews were fooled --in regards to the Obama admin and support of Israel --by accoutremonts such as Rahm Emanuel's family ties to the IDF, and other American Jews such as Axelrod and the Penny Pritzker family being so prominent within.
From a distance, way down here in the rural wilds of the southwest, all i saw was a Palestinian American Kampus Kaffiyeh wrapped around the candidate's psychic head. Everything about his and his clique's rhetoric, everything about his positioning and politics and presentation, rang (rings) the same false tone in the same clever way, as has for a half century the whole Palestine/UN/Arafat combination of cynical, hateful, greedy, obsessive, reptilian intelligence. America was founded in a Mosaic tradition --freedom because of law --that is a night and day different form than the Obama/UN "lawless order" (to borrow a phrase from Orwell). LET ME ADD ONE MORE FACT HER; THAT SO MANY AMERICAN JEWS HAVE BEEN BLIND 2: FOR OVER 24 YEARS @ LEAST; THE "UNITED CHURCHES OF chrisT" AS A WHOLE, HAVE alllllways BEEN STRONGLY ANTI-SEMITIC & LOBBIED CONGRESS for DECADES TO GO AGAINST ISRAEL & SUPPORT PALESTINIANS.. SO IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, ONLY BLIND IDIOTS COULD HAVE DONE WHAT SPEILBERG & THE REST HAVE DONE HERE, W/OBOMBA, et al. THEY'R DIRTY STINKING CRITTERS IN MY BOOK, & I HOPE THEY HASTEN 2 REAP WHAT THEY SOW, ACCORDINGLY. No, i'm also NOT A JEW, BUT U BET THAT I LOVE & SUPPORT ISRAEL WAY MORE THAN THOSE KREEPAZOIDS EVER DO.

** March 13, 2010 ANOTHER “RUBE” SELF-IDENTIFIES: “We are shocked and stunned at the Administration’s tone and public dressing down of Israel,” Anti-Defamation League director Abraham Foxman said in a statement. UPDATE: Reader Anne Butzen writes: Had to chuckle when I saw that quote from Mr. Foxman. I receive fundraising letters from the ADL now and then, and always marvel at his harangues – to read him, you’d think that Evangelical Christians were the greatest threat to world Jewry today. So this must have come as a terrible shock to him. If it actually causes him to wake up to the real world, though, then it may be a blessing in disguise. I’d be surprised, but we’ll see. Posted at 11:36 pm by Glenn Reynolds ** I don't know why the PA's position would be surprising. To a certain type of Muslim, if a Muslim so much as takes a shit in a country, that country is now and forever Muslim territory. If the Vatican were nuked tomorrow and one of the construction workers rebuilding it were Muslim, the PA, Hezbollah, AQ and others would stake a claim to Rome, arguing that Italians and Catholics had no historical right to that Muslim city.
I know many Muslims and it is hard to square their moderation and respect for plurality and American ways with the eliminationists. It is also damn hard when looking at the Muslim community around the world to separate in my own mind the one group from the other; the eliminationists have done their job well and have raised questions in my mind about whether my moderate friends (who hold their beliefs sincerely, as far as I can tell) are merely the stalking horses for future territorial claims by political Islam. Never mind the cultural / tribal baggage that a lot of recent immigrants bring with them from the backwoods of Pakistan and other somewhat untamed areas - these create problems of their own. I hope my moderate friends win the civil war within Islam, but the gentle and tolerant often have a difficult time fighting off the men with long knives - witness Europe's prostration, which seemingly cannot occur fast enough for the Islamists and multi-culti transnationalists. Europe is a little bit more gutless and out of cultural steam than the U.S. is, but it still makes me worry a bit about the kind of world we're going to have in 20 years. The medieval Islamacists seem to think that God is on the side of those who adhere to him in the the most extreme fashion, but I tend to think God sides with those who manage the best concentration of firepower at the schwerpunkt, and with the people who believe that God's rules of physics govern atomic decay rates, rather than God's angels. In my opinion the ADL has done terrible damage to it's own people. Building hate into any baby is a terrible thing!
comment continued.
It is not healthy for any child to be made afraid of outsiders. Keeping history alive is one thing--By their strong position in the community, I believe the ADL has weakened the Jewish people in America. The ADL approach has cost them a lot of support from outside their own community. OTOH, JDL has FAR more justification --in terms of time as well as event --than any other splinter group-within-a-distinct-minority.
If, as it appears true, that after a little over a year, obama is dedicated to the demise of the USA, ALL former allies of the USA should be on alert that their destruction will be included in the orbit of obama.
You're right J ... I'm going to have to admit it. We may be first on the Obama List, but our allies will be next.
Pay attention there, friends... Marianne Yes Buddy you are correct also. But, if the world breaks down into three major power groups--all based on religion, then no hands are clean.
American Jews must be, in the main, fools. They vote over and over again for liberals, despite the fact that liberals are constantly denigrating them behind their backs and slitting their throats in American foreign policy.
Unless you attribute it to stupidity (and I don't), their voting behavior is willful. They therefore deserve whatever fate Obama visits on them, just as do all those Americans who voted for a socialist administration bent on destroying the Constitution and everything that America stands for. To quote The One Himself, "If Americans don't like [what we're doing], that's what elections are for." It's time more Americans realized that. I meet two kinds of American Jews. The religious types (think Joe Lieberman) can be obnoxiously liberal on domestic issues but are hawkish when it comes to protecting Israel and their own religious freedom.
The secular Jews have replaced their religion with statism / socialism and don't care about Israel. Their leader is a guy named Karl. Obama makes himself a stench now reaching the nostrils of even the most helpful fools. Antisemitism is evident in his actions.
