We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
We're getting a lot of wind here in NE CT too. The house is pretty quiet tonight (other than my practicing my guitar scales) - you can hear the house creaking. I was just outside and I'm getting nervous about a huge ash tree that seems to be swaying more than usual.
Just had a gust here to 52 mph on Ye Olde Anemometer and the wind is steady 12 to 15 out of the NNE to NE - occasionally holding at 18 -20 out of the NE.
Your post brings back memories of our last hurricane, Hurricane Ike, which blew right straight over the center of Houston with 90 plus mile an hour winds. I lay in bed for six hours, dreading the possible loss of our roof with the roaring wind howling over me..
Didn't sleep much that night. We kept our roof, but lost our electricity for 12 days -- of 90 degree weather. Not good memories. Maybe we'll be lucky this year.
