We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Thanks! That slideshow made my day. Wonderful photography. Spoiled somewhat in pictures #81 & #82 by Henry Wallace signing his name under the cockpit of a B-24. I can only guess this was FDR's VP, who, during a visit to Kolyma (harshest of Stalin's Siberian gulags) in May 1944, was fooled by the Soviets into thinking it was a wonderful place to work. He even said he "... could not help but wonder how much better off these people [the prisoners] were than they had been under the Tsars". Thank God Wallace was dropped from the ticket later in 1944 in favor of Harry Truman.
