We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I did too, Texan99 and bd. I still cherish one which was published in the New Yorker, of a desert island with a woman sitting on a log, and a raggedy man whispering in her ear. She's frowning and saying "I'd know -- that's who'd know!"
Only folks born before 1960 would understand this, because only we know what "indecent suggestions" were. Nowadays, such suggestions are routine.
I remember that one also--but, it is not that today's young people don't know what "indecent suggestions" are, they don't even know what "suggestion" is; most importantly they don't bother saying anything they just look and do--male, female, otherwise. Kinda like the chimps, scratch or screw.
