We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Curious, Gwynnie. Is this on the old New Haven Shore Line, or the old Pennsy NY-Washington run? The trains look like Acela Express or Metroliners? I have a good friend who worked on the old New Haven Shore Line (Boston-NY) and he said there were only two types of workers allowed: The Quick and The Dead. Now I can see his point!
This guy's giving Buster Keaton a run for his money, but Keaton did stunts and by the look of it this guy is doing stupid. I'd say he would be in the running for being 'the world's luckiest man' if his mom had mated with someone just a little bit smarter and he used that IQ boost to avoid standing on the tracks. Have to say though, I don't believe my lying eyes and I imagine this isn't what it seems. Occam's Razor and all that...I suspect it's more likely this was by design rather than an accident. Call me a skeptic.
Looks European. And a little iffy in the authenticity department. Though when I was a railroader, I nearly got cut in two by a rolling flatcar in a classification yard. Coming at me silently at 2AM, out of the fog. Nothing like hitting the gravel as it slips by a foot or two away.
The Federal Railroad Administration along with most of the class 1 railroads have very strong rules about individual workers foul of tracks with out some type of authority (that either forbids or restricts the movement of trains) or a desiginated qualified employee as a look out. failure to comply is gronds for dismissal from the railroad and hefty fine on the individual by the FRA, and still we have lone workers killed as a result of being struck by trains more than 4 in the usa would be my guess in 2009. Its a Very dangerous place.
