We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Regarding substance and issues, I might add that the Congressman whose office is six miles from my house denigrated the Tea Party people and also admitted he hadn't read the Health Care bill. So much for substance.
What is silly is the uncritical adulation the president gets from his supporters. What is insulting is the way the president and his allies in Congress treat people who disagree with their policies.
For years the Democrats and liberals had fun mocking George Bush. They said it was patriotic. They thought it was hilarious when someone tossed a shoe at W. Well the shoe is now on another foot and a few tosses in the humorless Obama's direction are thoroughly deserved.
