We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I never ate there, as my NYC restaurants were generally limited to delis and cheap Indian and Chinese places- and my cousin's kitchen. Chinese bakeries produce excellent munching while walking food. While the initial response to the closing of Tavern on the Green would be that it was a casualty of the recession, it was outbid for its lease on city land. That does not indicate "casualty of the recession" to me.
Filthy dogs. What don't you understand about The Way It Always Was being The Way It Always Shall be? Cannot have you imperialist lackeys changing The Way.
So another institution falls to somebody with more money. Oh, well. The owner's will maybe pay off their debts with inflated sales price memorabilia to nostalgia buffs...or to those with more money than sense.... and reopen elsewhere. I hope they pay off their debts. I noticed in the article they value the name alone at 19mil and the name was not for sale. And if the do not cover their debts, I do hope that one of those imperialist capitalists sues to gain control of the name.
(Having been the victim of someone owing me (my business) money, now being on the other side of the bankruptcy equation, withholding/hiding assets to plead bankrupt, unable to pay, just p!sses me off.)
