We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
To put it in context: The folks in the private sector pay for all the folks in government as well as all the goodies they hand out. That the goverment workers pay taxes is a farce. The money they receive has to first be created and that can only be done in the private sector. the goverment has become nothing more than a ponzi scheme.
Yes, I would like to see smaller numbers of government workers too. But this chart is misleading. 80% of private sector employment is in the service sector. Doctors, lawyers, indian chiefs, professional sports, accountants, cab drivers, warehouse workers etc.
The fact that we produce an incredible amount of hard goods with so few workers is a feature, not a bug. I am always amused by people who long for the old days of blue collar assembly line. Not everyone had a high paying job in an auto plant. Many hundreds of thousands of people worked in factories like "Norma Rae" earning subsistence wages carding cotton.
