Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The Supreme Court is conferencing on the matter of whether or not the names of people who signed the petition for a referendum should be made public. This is a very important step in our nation's history. Please go here:

More than 120,000 people signed that petition in opposition to legislation forcing equal civil rights (next step to marriage) upon the state of WA. We the people signed that petition in order to bring the new law to a vote of the people. The homosexual community is no demanding to have those names so that they can "converse with the signers wherever we meet, in a grocery store, or . . ." Please make this announcement public so that your readers can watch how this moves forward through the Supreme Court and so that this issue can come to the public debate. Thank you

The politicians are approaching the wrong problems in the current healthcare finance negotiations. The big problem, Numero Uno, #1 with a bullet is that the individual mandate is wrong, unconscionable, unConstitutional, illegal, and it may be immoral or fattening. Okay, I made the last two up.
The public option and its costs are also very, very bad. But the individual mandate, if we allow it to happen, is a surrender to the nanny-fascists. And the fascist part will get a lot larger very soon.

The homosexual community is "demanding to have those names so they can converse with the signers, etc." Sounds pretty much like forceful coercion to me. That is Not Nice, whomever wields the club.
