We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

BD , wow that was weird. I kept waiting for him to soften the blow or to obfuscate and then pronounce the need to keep pressing for Copenhagen reform. I found myself becoming optimistic after hearing this. Junk science is bad for everyone. I am not sure how to fund studies with out the taint of outcome based predispositions, but we need to do it.

Rex Murphy is one of Canada's media gems. I have never been disappointed by his wit and commentary.

Rex Murphy is always straight up and sensible. How the hell he ever got hooked up with the socialist semi communist CBC that has never seen or heard a leftist cause they didn`t promote is a mystery to me.

I'm sure glad I read Brian's comment first. I, too, would have spent the whole clip waiting for him to say, "Of course, this doesn't prove that global warming isn't real." Instead, it was quite refreshing.

Rex has been a fixture for some time now and always gives a good comment of the news-of-the-day. It takes a Newfoundlander to cut-to-the-quick. That being said, it's a little surprising he's with the Calgary Bubblegum Company (CBC), our 'hallowed' national broadcaster.

Stay tuned to CBC and watch the next 100 commentaries about the CRU AGW frauds.The TAXPAYER funded CBC gave Murphy his say as a lead in and will now will give every envirokook worldwide air time to prove that Rex and those who do not believe are uninformed right wing deniers,that the real crime was the hacker/whistle blowers and Al Gore speaks directly with mother nature..Pravda, Al Jazeera and Goebells himself have nothing on the CBC in biased partisian reporting or in the case of until yesterday non reporting.As a Canadian ,yes Rex Murphy is a gem,the CBC is a pit of leftwing skanks posing as journalists.As I said,stay tuned!

Rex Murphy as others have stated here is far from the norm for CBC. You will see hours spent on the rebuttal for his few minutes.

George Monbiot of The Guardian calls Canada a "thuggish petro-state".

Now good old Rex weighs in with some common sense on climate science.

As others have mentioned, believe me when I say that this Rex Murphy piece is the ONLY thing from the CBC in that vein that will ever see the light of day. The CBC is utterly biased toward the left on this, and most other issues.

The amount of air-time they devote on radio and television to promoting the global warming narrative is completely unbelievable. Lest anyone get the notion that the CBC is somehow balanced, let me point out that for the 3 minutes and 54 seconds they give Rex Murphy, the rest of the broadcast schedule is saturated with propaganda programmes like "The Nature of Things" -- a weekly soapbox hosted by David Suzuki.

Depressingly, the CBC is subsidised by Canadian taxpayers to the tune of more than $1.1 billion in 2007, alone.

And guess what boxoffice blockbuster the CBC Newsworld channel will be showing again this Sunday, for what? The 30th time? Yup, "An Inconvenient Truth".
