Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Off-duty

Your editor is going off duty until tomorrow. 20 people arriving in a while (all bringing pies or vegetable dishes) - and a few more just for dessert. Here's what we're doing:

Bird Dog ... The best of Thanksgiving wishes to you and yours, from two old folks in Houston, Texas, who are still cooking for themselves -- a turkey breast roasted in the oven, homemade dressing, a side of vegetables, and a long prayer of Thanksgiving to the Lord, and to our ancestors who were wise enough and determined enough to succeed under adverse circumstances.

A paradigm for us all, today.

P.S. Forgot the U. Texas game which goes on tonight at 7 p.m. and which my husband, a Longhorn in more than one way, never misses.

I confess, BD, I was a little shocked by what you said. I thought cannibalism was illegal! Here it is (without the parenthetical aside):

That's just wrong!
