We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Palin-mania

She's a pheenom. She's a non-elite, non-Hollywood celeb. She is beautiful, fertile, and athletic. Her hard-working, macho hubbie supports whatever she wants to do. The MSM hates her.


She's a yokel with common sense. Like Truman, Lincoln, and Andrew Jackson.


Even if you do not want her to be President, it is difficult not to like her.


She is doing something right. Here's some of her interview with Rush.

I think she would have done a lot better job as president than Obowma has so far. I doubt she'd grovel her way around the world apologizing for America's existence, or knuckle under to Putin. She would probably even be able to make a decision on Afganistan. She also wouldn't have run the economy off a cliff or try to ram socialized health care down our throats.

Sarah is doing a lot of things right. Holding true to her principles in spite of the ugly backbiting of the liberal media, remaining a faithful wife to Todd and a good mother to their children -- these are admirable things. Since I come from 'flyover country' myself, I have learned to discount what the limousine liberals have to say about most things and people. They view the world through a skewed lens of anger and resentment. But I still haven't figured out why they reveal their worst and ugliest selves whenever Sarah Palin is mentioned or comes on the scene. As a New England based commenter said on Neptunus lex the other evening, by all rights, by all they say they believe in, feminists ought to love her. She got her college degree, she married her high school sweetheart, she has five children, and she has been a successful governor of the largest state in the Union, and got a more than 60% approval rating from her constituents..

What's not to like? Of course, she has had more real world experience in managing effectively a large complex enterprise, meeting payrolls, and solving problems by concentrated effort. But what's so bad about that? Ohh, right. I forgot. Our present President hasn't done any of that. No governing ... no meeting payrolls ... no solving difficult diplomatic problems.

I guess you just have to hate a woman [or a man] who can do all of the above, successfully.

Or maybe it's just because she's beautiful. And her husband adores her. And encourages her in her achievements. Yeah ... that's probably it.

Then you don't know the liberals I know. It's easy for them to Hate her, in fact, it's second nature. Sarah does not stand a chance.

Richard ... What makes you think that Liberals outnumber conservatives in this country? If they do, it will be the first time in my 81 years that it's happened. Of course the Liberals hate her. They're afraid of her. That's a reflection of their bad judgment, not an indication of her lack of qualifications.

Palin was in Grand Rapids? My local GR news site (TV8) said nothing yesterday. Now it says she Was Here!
I missed her. (grumble mumble)

I don't know how she would as President, but I certainly like her because she is average and decent. The left believes that you need to be highly educated to run for anything above dogcatcher, yet she was almost VP. That drives them crazy.

Marianne ... Liberals control the mass market opinion machine to a greater degree than their raw numbers and that apparatus will never permit Palin to become president. It's the same apparatus that stops any true conservative from getting the Rep. nomination. Just not going to happen.

Well shucks Dog, me likes her but ain't gonna post her picture on the wall.

Missy Mariamme, her governorship of Alaska doesn't make the bar of successful.

I'd give her a C.

Raising a daughter who can't keep her stuff to herself doesn't get her a high mark in the Christian parenting category either.

Yall's honesty is admirable, though it be coming from a boy who reads Sniper.

Gettin' back to the topic; Missy Sarah gets low marks for poor parentin'.

Poor parentin' often results when a chicklet is bent on bein' somebody other than a keep to home Christian woman.

Some may like to lay the fault at her husband's feet for not allowin' her to be a keeper at home.

Regardless of whether it be his or her fault, the truth is she is no leader of serious minded men or women.
