We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Docs don't want it, regardless of the Democratic spin.
A friend who is a highly-respected neurologist at one of the top medical centers in the U.S. is developing a new career selling Amway products so he can walk away from his medical practice at whim. His overhead for malpractice insurance and administrative costs (filling out forms) has long made it impossible to earn a living practicing his chosen profession. I don't mean buying two houses, fancy cars, etc. He wants to put his kids through school and not work 70-hour weeks forever.
His problem? A large segment of his practice involves Medicare patients and his comment was, "So we want to turn the whole country into the mess I face trying to treat them adequately? Good luck. An ever-decreasing reimbursement schedule and limitations at every turn."
