We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The contortions people are going through to avoid the obvious reality that Major Hasan was a one-man Jihad are remarkable. Scott at Powerline identified his disorder: PISS. Why do Moslems get a pass on violence? Wizbang: Hasan worshipped with 9-11 hijackers. At Moonbattery, Moslems defend the Major. The world has gone mad.
Mr. Lieberman said that if news reports were true that Mr. Hasan had
turned to Islamic extremism, "the murder of these 13 people was a
terrorist act and, in fact, it was the most-destructive terrorist act
to be committed on American soil since 9/11."
Obama believes in “the fierce urgency of now”, and fierce it is. That’s where all the poor befuddled sober centrists who can’t understand why the Democrats keep passing incoherent 1,200-page bills every week are missing the point. If “health care” were about health care, the devil would be in the details. But it’s not about health or costs or coverage; it’s about getting over the river and burning the bridge. It doesn’t matter what form of governmentalized health care gets passed as long as it passes. Once it’s in place, it will be “reformed”, endlessly, but it will never be undone.
Deranged Jappy: With regard to the Major, John Allen Muhammad, Lee Boyd Malvo and a host of other cast members to numerous to mention. We have to be more kind and sensitive to their needs. The Major found out that he was the octomoms kids father. JAM has been rumored to be one of Michael Jackson's father's kids.
Normal Jappy: Break out the blow torch a pair of pliers and a band saw. Go down to Satriale's Pork Store ask for a guy named Vito. If Meta's pit bulls are trained we can use them too. Apply this method to all the other case's since 9/11.
Good for Acorn, er, SEIU, kicking the crap out of people they disagree with. It's about time these unions dropped their line about being for the workers, and got down to exposing themselves for the violent and sociopathic marxist Wobblies that they are.
Frankly, it's hard to hate a watered down union that now operates both GM and the company that used to be Mopar.
But the SEIU? I've got Jeeves bringing me the red phone with the direct line to the Pinkertons.
Mark Steyn's point is only too correct: let any variation on this abomination come to life and it will be very hard to destroy it later. Its chief problems are the individual mandate and the government insurance program, but those are only #1 and #2 on a long, long list.
I disagree that this monstrosity can't be repealed by an equally dedicated GOP Congress with a Republican President in 2012. I cannot agree with those who want to throw in the towel before the final buzzer!
At the very least, this legislation can be gutted now, or in 2013, so it has no force or effect, and the free market prevails. Should this thing ever pass, and we should go all out to insure it's late term abortion, then the first challenge should be in the courts, using the liberals favorite tool against them.
This bill is vulnerable on many provisions and for once maybe some sympathetic trial and constitutional lawyers can actually serve the general good instead of milking it. We can never give up on this one, this one is truly do or die.
If that doesn't reverse it, then civil disobedience on a massive scale will bring them to their knees. And failing that, outright rebellion and the counter-revolution. I sense that this one is truly the line in the sand for many Americans.
