We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Apparently our posting of that Taylor Swift YouTube was just too much. Our unofficial Maggie's "Youth Of Today" Czar suggested Peacebone from Animal Collective. Stick with it, says she:
Well, I hadn't even clicked on it to give a listen yet when Boy entered my desk area and said excitedly, pointing at the screen, "Animal Collective... I have tons of them on my I-Pod!"
Boy is the perfect target market, at age 14 he is the youngest of four musician-types by a full decade, so his exposure to music is a wee bit precocious.
I gave it a listen, and I must say, I could do without the visual accompaniment. Listenable enough, but the sci-fi teen-angst eroticism of the viddie left me struggling to draw parallels with the lyrics that I could not discern. Maybe I'll try again later... might make more sense after cocktails.
