We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
'All men want is sex and for you to make them a sandwich.'
In that order. And a few cold Coronas, please, with lime. Some gratitude for the masculine attention and some snappy repartee are always welcome too.Don't forget the chips with the sandwich, and please turn on ESPN.
But he was right the first time about not being ready for the Oval Office. As president, he seems confused and a bit distant on the issues, leaving the details to congressional Democrats and an ever-growing number of “czars” while he golfs and launches attacks at Rush Limbaugh and Fox News.
His Hopeful Changeness manifests a lot of bully behavior. He surrounds himself with "enforcer" types. He pushes around those he believes he can, relying on their courtesy or their fear to get his way. He is more cautious with those he expects to push back. Thus we see HHC and his team leaning on Israel and not on Hamas or the Palestinian Authority. He attacks Fox and Rush while ignoring official Arab world press that routinely identifies Jews and Christians as apes, pigs, dogs, etc.
So, Kathryn Jean (parenthetical phrase) Lopez thinks Eliot Spitzer should not be allowed to give one of ten lectures on institutional corruption. It's a morality question? Spitzer knows a lot about corruption and has much to teach about it. Why should his having had an affair make the information he possesses worthless?
I wonder if those goody-two-shoes over at NRO give each other spankings every morning just in case.
