Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Britain recognizes global warming as a religion

Surber. Rightly so. It's about time this was officially recognized.


Now let's separate church and state.

I like what one of the commenters said:

"No wait. This is a plan. Global Warming becomes a recognized religion. Then we sue to keep it out of the schools. We sue if they try to incorporate its tenets into public building construction and operation. We sue if they try to impose the tenets in building codes as being no less than requiring the eating of fish on Friday or keeping kosher by civil law."

And, for gawd's sake, keep it off the courthouse lawn at Christmastime!!

I like that idea Dr. Merc ... turning their own ill-considered weapons against them. I would certainly rather have you as a friend than an enemy.

The idea of "AGW as religion so the government can't meddle with it" has a certain charm, except this is a non-reciprocal law. If it promotes Christianity, Judaism, or traditional responsibility and morality, it's religous and must be kept away. If it's Muslim or seems anti-American or anti-free-market in its teachings, it's religious and must be protected.
