We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I think it's time for a JFK wave. Things have changed: he would be a pretty good Republican candidate today. His murder by a Lefty-loser-Commie-Cuba-sympathizer set in motion a generation or so of bad things from which we continue to experience the repercussions.
NJ- Your assumption seems to be that Oswald acted alone? The evidence so far released indicates otherwise. Why have the rest of the documents not been released?
I, like many others, say it is the still unresolved nature of this assassination that may have partly set in motion the series of bad things we have experienced since. Cui bono, is always the question that must be asked when wondering why the documents continue to be classified.
I have a strong feeling that the massive amount of unreleased documents may show Jack and Bobby Kennedy, the FBI under J Edgar, the CIA under Helms and Hunt, the Justice Dept, and others, in and out of government, in a very unflattering, even un-American, criminal, perhaps treasonous light, don't you? Cui bono?????
Sober analysis of the facts in the case indicate LHO acted alone. The various conspiracy theories are nothing more than a paranoia campaign, organized or not, that have worked quite well to undermine our society. The numerous conspiracy theories have the overwhelming advantage that not one of them has to stand up to the scrutiny that the story that the actual definitive facts in the case point to. We can argue until the cows come home and never come to an agreement, but for me, conspiracy theories are a litmus test on one's ability to deal with reality. Not those who passively accept what the media presents because it's not that important to them to investigate, but those who have invested time into seriously considering the possibilities. The basic facts that point to LHO as a lone assassin are a far more plausible explanation.
Random thoughts: Hard for me to blame Oswald for 'setting events in motion'. Perhaps JFK would have turned sharply to the Left at some point in the future as brother Bobby did? Or maybe JFK would have escalated the war in Viet Nam instead of LBJ? I think much of the progression of events that happened back then would have occurred whether Kennedy was president or not. But whether or not Kennedy would have pushed for the Great Society with the enthusiasm of LBJ is an interesting question.
