We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Given Apple's tendency to aggressively respond to anything that infringes on their brand (there's a wikipedia page for that - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Inc._litigation) it'll be interesting to see if they respond to this add at all.
The ad is well done, but as I watched it, I was imagining what a "Democrats in Congress" ad would look like. This ad focuses on social issues, but the ad I imagined would focus on economic issues and ethics.
Here in middle America (geographically, politically and economically middle), the Dems still have a base of supporters who view the party as working class and the Republicans as fat cats.
Yeah, the first dem would be how to drown a girl and walk away. You could finish with the dem who killed a bisset and a kennedy but didn't walk away and in between you could feature kennedies and murthas and a pelosi who's husband rakes in billions of our $ thanks to his connection to the speaker of the house, a freezers filled with cash and brainy frank and his 4 rent controlled apts in new york and property in the dominican republic.....
Is there any way to vote them all out of office? Republican or democrat, I'm not impressed with either.
You can hear the tops coming off a hundred jars of vaseline at the DNC headquarters if you play that ad, turn up the volume and listen real close. I guess that's what bothers me about the parties so much these days. There are a lot of serious issues to be dealt with but the partisanship operates at a level of wankery that is unparalleled in my memory.
