We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
You guys have the best blog roll anywhere. Grand Central for me if I'm looking for a blog.
I find the piling-up on Charles Johnson disturbing. Gleeful reportage of his breakdown or whatever it is, is everywhere. I don't get it. G. V. created a large post dedicated to making fun of Charles' photographs, and the two good Drs. Bob you link often were over there in comments ululating their joy at the takedown. Why? Why make mockery of another man's photographs???
Oh well. Good for Maggie's that you haven't lowered your standard operating sensibilities of not making fun of fellow bloggers. Hat's off to you for maintaining a genuine sense of class.
You sound like the playground toady with your pietistic whining here. "Chucky"? Ok. 'Chucky' went off the deep end and Gerry Vanderleun wrote a nasty, revolting essay to make fun of 'Chucky's photographs. You went over there to join in the takedown fun, and now you're simpering about a troll? How gratifying was that for you? Don't you have anything better to do? You could write another one of your 1,800 word incomprehensible jihads about Christianity and the morally lost. Ignorance + hubris is not an attractive combo, especially when it is accompanied by hypocrisy.
Lots of talk about our lost conservative party. It is phonies like you, Dr. Bob, who foster the schism we have become. It is highly possible that people like you - with your profound moral judgments and razor-thin insights - are who drove Charles Johnson off the deep end.
The thing I don't understand, Dr. Bob, is why you even felt the need to respond in Gerard's comments about CJ's photographs. Not very compassionate nor kind kicking a man when he's down. You write and write about God's word and how fools dismiss His message of kindness and brotherhood. Are you having an existential crisis of your own? Perhaps Charles speaks to you?
Charles did the world a favor with his clever exposure of the Mapes-Rather attempt to swing the election. When I read his lunatic attack on Robert Spencer and Spencer's rational, credible and gracious response, I knew Charles was in deep trouble. He will not be mollified or disputed. It's sad, and piling on is not called for. Charles is hurting -- bad.
