We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Hey, doubling the purchase of luxury jets by the House is very prudent. It minimizes the chances of fatal accidents by putting fewer hours on each individual airframe. The is especially important because the maintenance jobs have gone away from the "burly white guys" (Kim Gandy's phrase) to those who think they can fix airplanes better because of their sex, skin color, and life experiences.

Preventive care won't be an issue once they solve the genetic blueprint evaluation screen. The screen will save tons of money because most people won't want to take it. But suppose they automatically gave it to babies? They could stop stuff in its tracks if we do enough research to stop stuff. I think that's the future.

I read Betsy's article twice, and I don't think I understand this preventative part. I get my mammaries squeezed once a year and my cervix papped and sooner or later I'll get the colon thing. Is that not preventative?

Will they deny smokers chest x-rays? Drinkers liver transplants?

BD. How does it costs as much for a 50 year old as it does for an 89 year old?

(Sorry. I have brain damage from going to the NRO site. Can I sue?)
