Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

India's population is 1.150 billion. It is predicted to surpass China's by 2030.


India has 600 billion farm animals.

If the average height at the shoulder is 3 feet and you stacked the animals, the resulting stack would be 1.8 trillion feet tall or roughly 341 million miles tall (if I got my decimals right).

That's a large carbon footprint too.

I read in the paper the other day that the Indian Health Minister wants to get power to every village so people will watch more TV and therefore have fewer babies ("When there is no electricity, there is nothing else to do but produce babies," he said)... better plan than the last one, which ended up with forcing men to have vasectomies...

I read somewhere that you could put every human on the planet with 2ft. around each in the state of Indiana. That means we could put all the animals on the planet in Texas and Buddy could milk them and make cheese for Indiana.
