We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Frankly, a very suspicions video. Filled with fear, fleshed with transparency. Dick Morris might want to consider straight talk. Sorry, that may be a Howard Dean, or someones, mantra.
I want facts, truthful facts.
I'm really tired of all the bullshit from both sides of the aisle. The country is being destroyed by partisan bullshit. We're better than that.
You and I along with many other rational, thinking people may want the facts so we can make informed decisions.
Unfortunately, many people don't think and respond to messages that drive their emotions. That's why the Democrats always position things as free, which appeals to the emotion of greed.
However, there is only one emotion that is stronger. That is fear. The creators of this ad did this intentionally. It has information and it is factually correct, although at a 40,000 foot level.
My guess is that it will be an effective ad. It is just not the kind of ad that appeals to my sensibilities.
I won't be sending links to this around to anyone. It does, however, raise a point I hadn't considered and haven't seen raised.
The claims are that ObamaCare is somehow going to magically reduce costs of healthcare for all Americans (and our erstwhile illegal immigrants). How do we go about reducing costs while adding 20, or 30, or 40, or everhowmany tens of millions of people to the insurance rolls?
What's the plan for increasing the numbers of doctors and nurses and respiratory therapists and physicians assistants and all the other professionals involved?
Cutting payments to healthcare delivery professionals will drive them away. They are not unintelligent people and they will find other ways to make a less stressful and physically damaging living.
The plans being run through Congress make no mention of tort reform to control Greedy Lawyers (has anyone else noticed that the only people not being vilified by the Obamabots in this "debate" are the freakin' ambulance chasers?). They also make no mention of how to increase the supply of healthcare delivery (more highly trained and certified professionals operating using more very expensive facilities).
These are costs that are not being acknowledged let alone discussed.
