There are three basic goals of the "healthcare reform" bills now worming their ways through the compost heaps we call Congress:

1. take all the income, some of which is profit, that is paid into the health insurance segment of the insurance industry and transfer that income to the US government. A secondary benefit of this would be the that some portion of the number of people now working for the evil, profit-mongering health insurance industry would be added to the government payroll to track and process health insurance premiums, claims, and payments. This is bad.

2. gain effective control of all healthcare delivery infrastructure in the nation - both plant and people. This is worse.

3. implement "utilitarian" rationing of healthcare to remove as many "undesirables" as possible from the system. This will primarily be the ill elderly. Let's face it folks, these people not only consume a large portion of healthcare services but they are a pretty substantial portion of the demand on SSN and unfunded retirement plans. Gotta get rid of at least some of them. This is even worse.

4. deliver "government provisioned health care services to as many voters as possible. For the lower rungs of the economic ladder this will mean healthcare services they've never experienced before - utopian by comparison to nothing. These people will be guaranteed life-long Democrat Party supporters. A large portion of the rest of us will have nowhere to turn. If we healthcare at all we'll take what we're "given" and shut up about it. Rock the boat and they'll punish us in some way. This is, ultimately, the worst.

But heh, reality being what it is, I can help achieve goal #3. Three mornings per week I spend roughly and hour among some of the unhealthy elderly. I can tell you that they are NOT supporters of the president's plans. In fact they are quite vocal, often vehemently so (to the point of shouting at the TV).

I'm gonna snitch on them. All the jackbooted brownshirts need to do is goosestep on down to their nearest coronary, pulmonary, and whatever other outpatient rehabilitation centers at their local hospitals. They'll have plenty of criminals and plenty of evidence at their fingertips.
