Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Friday, October 23. 2009A repost - Take a minute today to send a few emails to let your servants in government know what you think. It's not too late. Or you can do it again. It's even worth it if your Congresscritter or Senator is a far Lefty: it's important for these people to know what you think. So take a minute today to email your Congressman and Senators to let them know your views of the Dem healthcare plan. Their email and fax addresses are here. It helps to be calm, polite, reasonable, direct - and brief. A fax is probably better than an email. If you oppose further government involvement in our medical care, you can also sign the Free Our Health Care Now petition. Over 1 million have signed it, I am told. For me, it's an issue of how much I want my life controlled by Federal bureaucrats and politicians. I am with Jefferson: the less, the better. Let's take care of the poor, the unfortunate, and the feckless, and let the others make their free way in life as Americans are born and raised to do. Keep the government's hands off my body! That was THE MOST VALUABLE step you have taken. I have and will e-mail all my contacts as well as copying and distributing them to ones who do not use computers (they still exist). Nice job! Helps me go beyond my home state/congressional district/whatever. Good info. Thank you.
I keep the websites of those who are called my representatives in my favorites and email them from time to time.
From the responses I receive it doesn't appear they've read anything more than the subject heading. But I keep trying. It’s my pleasure to erect my input beneath Bird Dog’s image of health. Your significant other will not object to you doing so either. Democracy, as in other pursuits of happiness unnamed in our Declaration of Independence, works best when we practice the position of free citizens. Muscles not exercized get flabby and weak. We get detumescence in our abilities to enjoy the pulchritudes available in the America we love.
While you’re aroused, you might also enjoy a second chance to be erect by going here, http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2009/07/sign-petition-stop-transfer-of.html to insert your view in the ears of Congress about whether these captured castrators of pursuers of happiness and freedom should be allowed into our neighborhoods. While you're at it, go to Rresentative Fleming's site and sign his petition requiring congress to enroll in the program themselves. Apparently, as it is written, they are exempt!
Read and sign the petition supporting House Resolution 615: http://www.fleming.house.gov/ One issue many are going to have with your sticky picture, is that they could never have gotten such a high quality picture so quickly and efficently without the gubmints internets.
OT but not OT, FedEX and UPS are by revenue and employee head count, as large as the USPS. They're the preferred shipping choice for millions. As for small notes and packages, the gubmints internets competes with it's own postal service. But I do my internets business with the Comcast Company, a virtual monopoly in my area. Why am I doing this again? Sanders voted against his family's participation in the glorious health care plan he says we all so desperately need. All Vermonters should be OUTRAGED that Sanders holds any elected office let alone a U S Senate seat.
Off topic from Babalu Blog, which translated this from an online paper from Catalonia province in Spain, breaking news from Honduras:
“The National Directors of Criminal Investigation seized various computers from the Presidential Palace that had recorded the supposed results of the referendum to reform the constitution that the deposed leader, Manuel Zelaya, was planning to conduct on July 28, the day he was removed from office. The official investigation now deals with the possible crime of fraud and falsification of documents due to the fact that some of the certified voting results had been filled with the personal information of individuals that supposedly participated in the failed referendum that did not take place because of the coup. One of the district attorneys that participated in the operation that took place this Friday showed reporters an official voting result from the Technical Institute Luis Bogran, of Tegucigalpa, in which the specific number of people that participated in table 345, where there were 550 ballots, 450 of which were votes in favor of Zelaya's proposal and 30 were against, in addition to 20 blank ballots and 30 ballots, which were nullified. The seizure took place on the third floor of the building attached to the Ministry of the Presidency that had been rented to the ex-minister of the Interior, Enrique Flores Lanza. The deputy district attorney, Roberto Ramirez, declared this area as a "crime scene" and, although he did not want to provide further details, said that further evidence had been found that could be categorized as crimes of fraud, embezzlement of funds, falsification of documents, and abuse of authority. ” As others have asked, how long will this take to get into the ENGLISH LANGUAGE press, such as the NYT, AP, Reuters, etc.? It won't. Not until Obama, Chavez, Morales, Lula Da Silva say it can.
This post just about sums up why Maggie's Farm is the blog I read when I'm not posting to my own!
BD, in your update the link to the petition doesn't work - you've got "ttp" instead of "http."

good post. Here is the most thoughtful takedown on the false savings this plan claims I have seen. Take a look: http://docisinblog.com/ I think the industry with obscene inflation and no concern for the common man is Hollywood. How can a poor man afford $10 for just a movie. Look how those CEO's and top performers live. I did, but I do not think that Sens. Kennedy or Kerry give a darn about how docs or hospitals see the world.
Those two stretch- limousine Libs have blinders on, and have no clue about how the real world works. Sebelius is either completely ignorant or blatantly lying. Based on EVERYTHING the Obama administration has done so far, if we wait until the bill is finished before debating it, there won't be anything to debate. They'll simply push it through for a vote before anyone has time to read it. How many times will voters fall for this garbage?
Sebelius is either completely ignorant or blatantly lying.
Why not both? In a discussion with a staffer for my congresscritter, I asked why they seemed to be doing such a poor job of responding to contacts. She explained to me that in order of impact and priority, Fax was top of the list. Mail9 old fashioned kind ...paper, envelope) was second...hand written was far better than typed, and email was more of an as we want to/if we want to.
My Congressman is Ike Skelton, Dem. This term he is 98% votes with Evil Nan, voted for Cap n Trade, and had abandoned his base. We MUST be engaged and involved. Yup--those filthy rich commies in Seattle have had 40 floors of attorneys working on ways to control the internet for more than five years now--ya think they will come with something?
I live in MA,
Dead Senator Kennedy is more responsive to my concerns and interests then he ever was alive. Again, being in a Democrat Blue State, I'm sure Sen. Kennedy is still voting the party line, since our graveyards contain our most active voters. |
Dems losing the health care debate Huge federal tax revenue drop. Solution? Raise taxes, of course. Says the WSJ today: The Obama advisers are laying the groundwork for taxing the middle class while claiming the deficit made them do it. I understa
