I hope and pray that Sarah Palin is merely taking a hiatus to guide her family on a full time basis for a little while, and to do some heavy-duty filling in of her knowledge of American history and world history, which is already quite extensive.

We need Sarah on the national political scene. There are far too few folks with her kind of principled approach to life and work. And her personal charisma. I know that the feminist left, was so terribly outraged that this talented woman got to her level of prominence without NOW or other feminist organizations, or behind-the-scenes pressuring and boosting by powerful political players. They did the most shocking and intensive ugly sliming of her, her family and her goals that I have seen in my 81 years. That feminist left and their masculine friends are going to keep after her in their hate campaign.

These are the Bush Derangement Syndrome folks, friends. We wondered what they would do once they lost Bush to kick around. Well, now we know. Hatred that intense and unreasoning doesn't go away. It festers.

But I have faith that this extraordinary woman will triumph. We'll see, won't we?

uddy ... just read through the comments at the link you list, and it was impressive. This woman is bright, and gutty, and independent as "a hog on ice," and I think that will be a huge factor in her success. All you have to do to estimate her possible future effect on our country is to scan the Internet blogs today. Everyone is talking about her resigning as Alaska governor and what she'll do next. Predictably, the leftist liberals are trashing themselves again with their disgusting comments. But in a way, that's a grudging recognition of her continuing importance on the national scene. One would like to send them to the woodshed for their vulgarity and classlessness, but in another way, it makes one grateful that their hatred of her is so publicly revealing of their own shortcomings. Where the heck do these idiots come from, anyway?

And there is another "elephant in the room" so to speak. Todd Palin is a large force in the Palin family, and a huge force in his wife's thoughts. He's impressive in his own right -- he obviously loves her and they're very close, and he is a great big macho male who protects his wife and family the old-fashioned way. He gives an impression of disciplined force that makes me think of the classic American male in the best sense. Together, he and Sarah are almost iconic in the way they represent America's best ideals. He loves his children, including Trig, very much. I watched a film clip of a Sarah interview, I believe it was with Greta van Susteren, and he sat quietly in the background, with Trig resting against his shoulder, playing with Trig's hands and keeping him happy. I loved that. That guy is a man's man in the best sense of the phrase. Just watching that film clip shows in shocking contrast the tawdriness of the American left.

At any rate, I don't think we're through with Sarah yet. And thank God for that!
