Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Sippican Cottage Furniture makes good stuff

It's time for a free ad for Sippican's craftsmanship. Readers may recall the stunning and unique humidor he made for me. He seems to be able to make anything, in any historical style, including custom built-ins.


I'm sure he'd love to build something for you, especially if you are friendly to him. Here's his furniture site. Here's a small (Shaker?) Tiger Maple side table he made for us:



Sipp was kind enough to bring over a similar table the other day, in an antiqued (can't appreciate the antiquing in my in photo) finish. It is situated among the pile of other engagement gifts, below:

the table is very good looking but would be enhanced by a flat screen instad of the monster next to it. I know you don't watch tv although fox news is on in your picture(big surprise) i recommend an HBO docudrama entitled "into the storm" about winston churchill ---great stuff.

Sipp makes very nice furniture. M'Lady and I can't hardly wait to see the tiger maple console table he's building for us.

lovely work. If you live in a 65 yr old house on a hillside, tho, you'll want everything that can do with three legs to have three legs. Sipp will know what i mean.

I'd love to buy a American made lamp to go on the table. I've been looking for a year for ANY lamp that is NOT made in China.

Sweet tables...Sip knows his way around the wood shop and some more. Hire a new photographer; the wide angle distortion in those photos--especially the first--is making me seasick. ;-)

Very nice, BD. Tell Mrs. BD she has nice taste in wallpaper. I would have glanced over that paper in the store, and seeing it up shows she has the vision to 'see' how pretty it would be.

I have a primitive pine child's chair that has lost its front rung from puppies chewing on it and kids feet on it for years. I patched it many times, but it finally gave way. My neighbor is going to replace it, but first I'm going to 'antique' the replacement rung using the methods Sippican uses to 'distress' a piece of wood. I learned that from the video you showed of him.
I thank you and Sippican for that. :)
