Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Hussein0 is a Muhammadan bastard without a birth certicate.
Muslims donot allow dhimmi to express Assalam Alikum to Muslims. The Egyptian crowd applauded the Muslim greeting from Mudboy, accepting him as one of their own. The koran is not holy anymore than Muslimas are respectable because they try to look like a Nun when wearing the veil. That Mudboy can relate to ignorant Muslim with the fable of Isra is touching but his rendition is wrong headed. Muslims who know their own fables are certain that Medina was the scene from which Muhammad's girly faced buraq launched him to fabulous heavens related in Hadith. Muhammad was never in Jerusalem nor did he pray with Moses or the Lord Jesus. What have Muhammad and B0H have in common? They are both liars. re subSaharan African IQ: Rather than quantifying IQ as a measure of intelligence, perhaps the accomplishments of the region should be the standard by which intelligence is measured? Any great civilizations past or present? Written language? Understanding or contributions to science and mathematics? Stuff like that. Some areas of the world have done extremely well. Others.... not so good. Is that not a reflection of regional intelligence?
The real question is: Are they moderate enough?
I joke, but not so much. Perhaps culture and education and nutrition give the brain the ninja skills it needs to think proper. Wow, what a concept. Take it to an extreme- a child raised in EU or USA by all "normal" means vs. a child raised in a box with only a small hole to poop and pee in and no human interaction. Twins from the same mother. Is it suggested anywhere that the golem child should have an equal IQ? Would not then, culture, nutrition, nurture, religion, play, and so on have a natural role in IQ? So, where on Earth are all of these factors equal? Right.
On the other hand, your IQ is your IQ, no matter how you got it. And it is limiting. IQ is not so limited but is a floating qoutiant.
But only in time and space. Financial crises can arise from extreme bad luck.
yep. As in "providing the work and the contractor not paying". An adviser of mine (fellow contractor) told me that finding the work had never been his problem, getting PAID for the work was the difficulty. Recently had to cease work when the sub-contractor (who sub'd the work to me) ceased paying. Now the legal system gets to wrangle it out. Does all that classify as "bad luck"? I have long understood "courage" to mean doing what you must in the face of danger even though you are afraid. "Bravery" I take to mean facing danger with such confidence that fear doesn't enter into it. "Stupid" is taking on a danger just because it's a danger.
Why closed door sessions to discuss healthcare? Ridiculous. Employer-based insurance should be dismantled and turned over to individuals so it's not related to holding a job. Prices will never be controlled unless the user is the purchaser.
REgarding the Muslim/Christian character of His Hopeful Changeness: I can't see him as a practicing Muslim and I don't much see him as a practicing Christian. The comments about his speech seem valid to me, but I see The Speech as a standard pandering by someone with no real religious identity toward a group whose support he wants.
I myself am a Deist more than a Christian -- many Christians would say I'm not one at all. I suspect that HHC's theology, if he really has any, is closer to mine than it is to mainstream or traditional Christian teachings. But a supporter of abortion and gay rights isn't any kind of a Muslim either. re: CA meltdown.
CA is hardly alone. A lot of government entities and people have been on an irrational spree for decades. It seemed that even the sky was no limit, the party would never end, the economic engine could never break. But back to CA. Don’t compare them to little children. Compare them instead to drunken little children with hatchets. A lot will get broken before dawn. CA problems and CA government structures are huge, the waves from what is going on there will be felt everywhere. And some other states are just barely more solvent. (also commented at Surber) AFAIK the US are the only country where freedom of speech is a constitutionally protected right, rather than a right granted by the grace of the ruling powers.
That it needs to be defined as a right at all is of course abhorrent. The US also have the only (or one of the very few) constitutions that explicitly limit the rights of government rather than lay down the limits of the rights of citizens (or rather, subjects). The United States is the only government in the world that does not the ability to set up an official censor or censorship agency.
All other counties can, and most, if not all, do have one. So, yes, the United States is the only nation in the world with freedom of speech. Despite lovely sounding speeches from world leaders, and the Charter of The United Nations. The Charter guarantees freedom of religion, and all nations belonging to the UN are requitred to abide by the charter. |
