We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
My husband-the-writer has written at east one book on sharks, which was published by the Discovery Channel. He says that the shark shown in the video looks more like a baby Great White than an Oceanic Whitetip. Great Whites do have babies -- you know, short persons who do get bigger, they're called when they're human -- although sharks in general do not have lots of progeny, and they take awhile to mature.
I loved the video anyway. What are those crazy Aussies doing, for gosh sakes? This is such a macho guy game that I got the giggles. Thanks, Opie, for finding it.
My apologies there BD, MM's vertically challenged but mighty sharp hubby shames this memory challenged doofus. I done had skipped to the end of the video and I coulda swored I sawed white tips on that there fishy, not to mention that them fins ain't not nearly floppy enough for c. longy. Watching again I can't fathom how I mis-ID'd. As one selachimorpha species j. biden is oft to say, "Mea Culpa". Oh, the shame.
Got a photo of c. longy's most docile 2nd cousin t. obesus one occasion back in the day when I did more diving. Spent much time 'splainin to folks the differences twixt the three when they were unduly impressed.
