Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Our own new metal signs will say "Warning: You are entering the MF Assault Rifle Range at your own risk" That ought to work for everybody but the deer hunters who are half in the bag at 4 AM and do not give a damn. We considered having "You are being monitored by video camera," but that did not seem country style. Too much like England - and a lie, too.

They're doing a controlled burn on the game lands (that border on our neighborhood), so the range, on the game lands, is closed until the second week of May.

I once used a cheerful, smiley face sign saying:

"Smile for the camera" at the entrance.

Worked well enough.

It's not an "assault rifle" nor is it an "assault weapon" it's a colorless semi-auto with cosmetic challenges. And I think it would be more effective if it read: Ya'll trespas chere 'n we'll be putin' ur booger pickers on the bang stick. Reckon.

I find that a simple sign that say's" Animal waste feshly applied" work quite well.
