Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Waterboard Congress?

How else to get truth out of them? This from Jules:



As the vengeful handwringing angels of the America-bashing left have always said about Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo, you can’t just go for the foot soldiers. The fish rots at the head. In this sorry business of abusive interrogations, let’s start with that body that serves as the conscience of the nation … Congress. You remember, the concerned American deliberative body that was apprised at the highest levels of the CIA’s practices and asked if there weren’t tougher methods that could be used against the enemies of our nation. Verdict in the dark days of 2002? Waterboarding OK!

What a great idea, Bird Dog. Since Congress persists in calling 'waterboarding' torture, why not have the most bloviating members endure a carefully controlled example of it? After all, thousands of our military folks have undergone it in SERE training with no lasting ill effects. Nothing like having your genitals soaked in lighter fluid and set on fire, as recently happened in the Middle East. Or being beheaded.

Politicians are sissies. That's why they're politicians.

I was talking a few days ago with my boss, a former naval aviator, about his experience with being waterboarded in SERE training. He is, as I am, thoroughly disgusted with Obama's and the Democrat's abuse of the military, and with the delicate treatment of enemy combatants for political gain. My son will go through SERE school in the next few months, and it'll be interesting if they still waterboard. Congress needs to have more than the truth squeezed out of them. A worthless lot, the bunch of them. A waste of water it would be, for the truth is not in them.
