We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Good for Big Dog. I read through his manifesto, nodding my head and decided that I'm a right wing extremist too. Most of us grown-ups are. He is not "a danger to the country." And neither am I. Those who endanger our country the most are those who do not permit reasoned argument in defense of our ideals and our country. Problem is, thanks to the iniquities of our educational system, very few young people know how to present a reasoned argument. It was that way in Germany in the 1930s before the Second World War
Believe me, if I were ten years younger and able to stand up for more than half an hour without passing out, I'd be at a Tea Party today. But I can't. I can still write, however, and I will go to bat for "right wing extremists" whenever necessary. God bless you, Tea Party "extremists" one and all.
