Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Thursday, April 9. 2009A few more Thurs. morning linksMedved on Obama the Leveler. It's either a different view of the world, or it's simply a political strategy. Obama's immigration agenda on the way. Once again, it's either a different view of the world, or it's simply a political strategy. I suspect the latter. AVI takes on the movie "Doubt" from the DVD cover, without knowing anything about it. A quote:
More on how the Left is bewildered and upset by the Tea Parties. Remind me - how much money did ACORN get from the "stimulus"? Was it $5 billion? ACORN is a government-supported radical political organization. We hope the Tea Party movement has legs. Lefty crybaby bloggers want to get paid by political orgs. Lefties always want other peoples' money. (In the interest of fair disclosure, we must admit that MF, like most of us centrist sites, does receive $10,000/month from a low-profile RNC-related media org in return for mindlessly echoing the Repub talking points which are emailed to us daily from deep within a hidden bunker somewhere in the Real America. A pittance, but every little bit helps to keep us in beans and rice.) Money image on loan from Wall Street Fighter Trackbacks

OK, so we confess our trivial blog income via the RNC.
But shouldn't we also mention our more substantial income from Pfizer, Big Tobacco Inc., AIG, Citibank, the Ford Foundation, the Pew Foundation, the New England Real Estate Consortium -- and our kickbacks from Insty, Jules and Sippican for linking them so often? AVI is a great and under-appreciated blog. I don't go to or much less enjoy many modern movies (something that Mrs. Skookumchuk thinks is somewhat aberrant) since I find them all so tediously didactic and predictable. The only time I halfway watch them is on airplanes where I drift in and out and try to guess the theme based on very brief snippets, sort of like what AVI did with his movie poster. Much nicer to be on the outside looking in...
Now William Powell and Myrna Loy - those are movies. The B forgot to mention our substantial kickbacks from AVI.
I am with Skookumchuk when it comes to today's movies--not much out there.
However, with regard to "immigration policy": several years ago the dems came through MT and convinced(strong armed) the college towns into becoming "Sanctuary Cities". May I suggest that the liberals have already won this game. The only difference being that now they control all economies for the next 8 years, what price will each state have to pay--what will they have to give up in the way of "new jobs funding", in order to maintain a strong immigration policy? Anyone wanna bet which states will stand strong on this? AVI :
"Doubt is the proper stance to take about anything religious". Of course it's the proper stance, doubt after all makes one appear to be superior, more thoughtful and righteous. it's only the weak and misguided needing absolutes, right and wrongs and the false ability to recognize good and evil. Remember.. -'Judge not lest ye be judged', blah-blah-blah. Just give everything a nice shade of grey and you have the answer to the coward's way of living your life.. " I refuse to Stand for Anything !".. ..except grey. The last time Hollywood got my money was 'Toy Story' :) "They are transparent to us. We are opaque to them."
I find this an offensive observation. So I don't exist for you, AVI? My presence here in the corporeal world a mere miasma as you pass through on your heaven bound journey. 'Opaque'... as in the density of your skull? Luther,
Don't be offended. This helps explain his rotten attitude: "I just get so tired of the utter predictability masquerading as pathbreaking." See, he's tired of predictability but can't do anything to change it. In fact, I bet his bitter blathering in that piece is because he realizes he IS predictable - just like all the religious fanatics who think they're better than anyone with 'solid' disbelief. (I'm not sure about 'disbelief'. I might have used non-belief, but then that would have made him appear less superior.) You know what would be path-breaking? Keeping your mouth shut about believers and non-believers and seeing people for who they are instead of what they are. ah, but that would be much too bourgeois. ` You guys notice any narcissism in that post? Nah...Now Jiverly Wong, THAT guy was a narcissist...
I was feeling lucky after learning my stipend from the RNC was the same as the multi-blogger Maggie's Farm, but then the B mentioned Big Tobacco... I checked with my RNC rep, who told me you need to have hit's in the 3 figures per day to get that support. I can only dream of 100 hits per day!

Read how you are paying ACORN to set up a Mob takeover of American health care. ok that may be a little sensationalist. But, when the new monster-med gov't bureacracy has full hold on the reins on what amounts to 15% of the economy, the vig will be there in ten thousand scams for da wise guyz --think of those seven billion phantom shares of stock sitting unsettled in the DTCC --see www.deepcapture.com Little by little, the shabbification of the Motax Tribe will become more and more visually obvious, as more and more of the tribal work 'comes off da top' and passes through to the Notax Tribe. (to be fair, the Notax do have a custom somewhat similar--they call it 'bribery') Pot holes, peeling paint, broken windows, unmown medians, rusted vehicles, police takeovers of public parks and leased long term to Dunkin Donuts, all the dolorous semiotics of the Democratic stronghold will pass onto the (formerly) bright edefii of Life Liberty and the Disposal of Income as out the burbs the malls deteriorate and begin to shutter down. To see now what is in store, rent the movie "Idiocracy" and at least get to chuckle while you sob. on the other hand, what would the issues matter, in a world without donuts?
