Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Saturday, April 4. 2009Sunday morning links (posted early)Photo on right from our webmeister Chris's back yard yesterday. He has hired this fellow to organize his garbage recycling. I did the same. In fact, I have two of them moonlighting for me. The Brits, who seem so obsessed with their "bins," need some of these helpful critters to sort through their trash for them. They do an excellent job of spreading it out for your perusal. Capt. Capitalism's amusing post about Sam linked to his older post about how the success of Capitalism produced The Mystery Will Wilkinson outs himself. Come on, Will. Grow up and start drinking Scotch instead. Speaking of bloggers, have you ever read Cobb? (h/t, 3 Kinds of Black at Vanderleun) Europe lectures O: Overspending is not the answer. Guess what? It's not meant to be the answer. It's meant to redistribute. Biofuels are the death of the Post-partisan census? This is beyond hardball. This is live ammo. Where's my bailout? Democrat debt is morally superior to Republican debt Today's Episcopal Church: Lesbian abortion-activist priests. It's not a religion. It's a Lefty, quasi-anarchist propaganda machine. Where are the good old hearty red-nosed Scotch drinking, golf-playing, skirt-chasing, Locust Valley lockjawed Episcopalians I fondly remember? Re the London protesters last week (via Thompson's Friday Ephemera):
Speaking of shopping, here's the #1 Non-fiction bestseller this week. How come no bus tours past Fannie and Freddie exec houses? Obama's political attack machine must be fully staffed. Hopey changey. China surpasses US in auto production. Capitalism is working well in China. Hey, Alan Colmes. Who the heck hasn't felt regularly dissed and humiliated? It's a normal part of daily life for everybody. Why Obama and the NYT do not want the banks to repay their TARP money. Hey - that's my money. Just mail me the check, guys, and say the heck with it. NYT loves unions - just not their own. They are different. One more intelligent call to end aid to Africa. Handouts are death to a society, especially a developing one. The only good they do is to feed the egos of the givers. Two good bits at Flopping: Obama and Krauthammer (unfortunately, not together). Eric Holder's idea of "constitutional." Says the distinguished Eleanor Homes Norton:
We hired these people?
This gives me the creeps: An intarnets czar? First they came for the Klavan takes on hate. We must always remember that "hate" doesn't mean what it used to. It's been redefined. Now it means expecting decent, civilized, respectful and responsible behavior from other humans. What do these idiots want? And don't they have jobs? I think they want a free lunch. MSM ignored O's bow. The House of Saud paid his tuitions, if I am not mistaken. It's about time. An honest pint in Oregon. Comments

Yes, but not for long, though at least I did catch a glimpse this time. Why... she made the mind roam. Certainly away from politics for a precious few minutes.
>>>Today's Episcopal Church: Lesbian abortion-activist priests.
You obviously missed the article on Wednesday or Thursday about the Episcopal priest in Rhode Island who was pissed because she was recently defrocked for converting to Islam. What a bunch of narrow-minded bastards, those Episcopalians... Next thing you know, they'll be insisting their bishops believe in God's existence. That was Ann Holmes Redding in Seattle, unless there's another one in Rhode Island...
Sorry, it was in a Rhode Island paper. My bad. As usual, I can only attribute my confusion, to my confusion.
Understandable. According to Wiki she "was inhibited (suspended) by the Rt. Rev. Geralyn Wolf of the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island, which has disciplinary authority over her".
WILL THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATE ITSELF? OR WILL WE HAVE A DOUBLE STNDARD OF JUSTICE? FORWARD THIS TO YOUR FRIENDS THAT SHARE THE CONCEPT OF EQUAL TREATMENT. documents available by email 155k
March 29, 2009 Certified Mail 7103 7975 6410 3203 5540 Senator Harry Reid 333 Las Vegas Blvd., South # 8016 Las Vegas, NV 89101 Dear Senator Reid: As a respected elected official and concern for the public interest the enclosed a matter of bribery and influence peddling in the Executive Branch, Department of Justice. The correspondence or evidence is seen to prevent an investigation of a federal criminal statute, title 18 sec. 1510. Casework, or review, is provided in the enclosed Integrity Committee letter dated February 13, 2009. To directly or indirectly, corruptly give, offer or promise anything of value to influence an act or to prevent an act can be construed as bribery. The Integrity Committee letter states the Inspector General EEOC has discretion to open an investigation of a violation of law, title 18. This is patently untrue. To forward a matter of apparent violation of title 18 to a criminal investigator is a 15-minute task. No mention of EEOC ethics official that is required by 28 U.S. Code sec. 535 to report any information relating to violation of any criminal statute, title 18. Assistant Legal Counsel APR 2006 letter has an opposite story to direct a matter of alteration of records, title 18 sec. 1001, to the United States Attorney’s Office. No mention in the OLC letter the IG discretion to open an investigation. What is EEOC hiding not to comply with laws, rules and regulations of the United States? How many other hard working Americans may have been denied fair and impartial treatment? The Inspector General apparently was promised or given something of value to have duped, misled, or possibly lied to a federal investigative agent to make a false writing of a review in a civil rights claim. Public service is public trust. Each employee has a responsibility to the United States Government and its citizens. This is a force, sense of duty an obligation of public service to comply with the law, rules, and regulations of the United States. Clearly EEOC Washington, DC, field offices, Nevada, California, Arizona, North Carolina and others have a double standard of the obligation of public service and do not share the concept of equal treatment under the law. As an elected official and Oath of Office to uphold the Constitution and equal treatment under the law that your office promptly forward the entire correspondence to the Attorney General for comment. It is the obligation, an Oath of Office the Attorney General to defend the Constitution and defend equal treatment under the law. Not to do so would only embolden others in public service to perpetuate bribery and influence peddling for private gain. This would add the perception there are those that choose not to have a responsibility to the United States and its citizens may not be fit for public service. I feel confident your office and colleagues would like to hear the comment and proposed action by the Attorney General of the United States in a civil rights matter. Sincerely, CERTIFIED MAIL Richard J. Davidson 5122 Cedros Ave. Sherman Oaks, CA 91403 Enclosures cc: Honorable Nancy Pelosi, House Speaker EEOC & others Such a sweet face...have two myself...right at home in the middle of the city.
Re Bank Bailout: interesting program on Bill Moyers Journal. Interviewed Wm Black, former Director of the Institute for Fraud Prevention, accuser of The Keating crew in the S&L debacle, who voted for Obama and now questions that decison. http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/04032009/transcript3.html Do you realize that Cobb has Connecticut roots? In a parish that has broken away, in a parish that is thinking about breaking away, or at home. The ECUSA has become the UU with smells and bells, and these days, is mostly converts who are looking for "inclusivity" and lots of hot drag on Sundays. This month so far, two Episcopal parishes, including their priests, went Orthodox. Hey, I'm all for a full pint as the next person, but Yeesh, we need a law for that? I've never been shy about sending back my pint of Guinness and asking them to top it off. But a law? Must be a slow week in the Oregon legislature. Very slow.
But on the upside, how do I apply for the "head police" job? I'd like that job... inspecting beer! I could do that - I'm qualified! Must be a slow week in the Oregon legislature. Very slow.
Pfff. We're lucky when they're only fooling around with relatively harmless stuff like this... If they wanted to do something really helpful, they'd abolish the ever-pernicious OLCC (Oregon Liquor Control Commission), with is basically a scam to give sweetheart deals to a very restricted number of distributors and to keep alcohol taxes high (3 or 4 times higher than even in tax-happy California). Not gonna happen...it's too big a source of revenue and graft. But I can dream... Yup, we have the same here in Michigan. High taxes, pernicious regulations, and the state has the monopoly on liquor prices. Upside - you don't have to waste time shopping around for the best vodka prices. Downside, you don't have the privilege of competitive prices for my favorite martini ingredients. At least I can get a break on the lemons. :-)
a Martini with vodka is a disgrace and a darn shame. Might as well drink gasoline. Beefeaters.
While I respect the fact that it is your own house, it is still common courtesy to wipe one's feet after cleaning the stables. Still, a trivial matter...
Yah - often I make mine with Sapphire, sometimes with other things. I try not to tie myself to just one experience.... I enjoy the whole spectrum of tipsy-ness. Enjoy!
