Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Saturday, March 28. 2009A shout-out to Buddy and his buddiesBuddy and his team of eight SEALs are in harm's way, doing difficult, challenging, and enviably-exciting nighttime work. The SEALs own the night. Buddy sends this email: "Everyone out here appreciates being remembered at home - that's what gets us through the fights." Churchill, not Orwell as is commonly thought, said "We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm." We have known Buddy since he was about 5, and, while I can see his capacity to be a very rough and dangerous man on the job, he has the warm, gentle, generous, and considerate soul with which strong, competent and confident men are often blessed. In a dispute, you want these guys on your side. Have no fear, guys: we think of you and pray for your success in your missions and your safety every day, and we soft candy-asses back home with our non-dangerous lives are grateful for the work you are doing for us. (Put a comment on this for them - they go online when they are able to do so. These intertubes are amazing, aren't they? They reach all the way over to Wherizzitatistan.) Trackbacks

All Stanwich is praying for you and your team, especially including all us old vets of wars past.
We are indeed grateful. It's hard to believe, but some folks at home actually have the audacity to complain about their lives, while you guys do your job. Ignore the complainers, and know we are with you in spirit.
Make sure Buddy and his teammates understand there is hardly a moment when we're not thinking of them and the others in arms. Thanks for what you do to keep us safe at home.
Buddie, Thanks for all you and Your friends commitments.
I'm with you in spirit and although my 60+ year old frame wont allow me I wish I could be there with you! CM C We fight for you at home while you take the fight to our enemies. It is our duty, and yet only a shadow of the respect and gratitude felt for those defending our endowment of liberty. Thank you.
Never mistake the one squeaky wheel (anti-military whiners) for the only one on the wagon. The other three may be quiet but they know what they owe you. They're the people who shake your hand on the street or cheer you in the airport or anonymously pay for your drinks and say a prayer every day that you'll come home safe.
We are eternally grateful for we know the cost of freedom is great. You have more support at home than you may realize.
Many of us are working at home to defend the principles that you and all in the armed services defend abroad by placing yourselves in harms way. You are in our thoughts and prayers. God bless!!! Y'all are the best! Keep up the great work and know that you are supported, respected and admired back here at home.
There are only two people who have ever died for me -- the American soldier for my freedom and Jesus for my salvation. God bless our troops! To Buddy and your SEAL friends ... We remember and bless you as often as possible, for your dauntless courage and compassion, your energy and protectiveness toward us civilians. We've known one SEAL and admired all of you others. The one we know is witty and kind, as well as heroic in facing a fatal illness. We love him for his kindness and protection. And we send our blessing to you all. You are "the best of the best," as our SEAL used to say.
Marianne Yes, to Buddy and all the buddies out there, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service to us as individuals, our communities, and our country.
God bless you all! Buddy: You guys are always in our thoughts and prayers. Thanks.
Yes, we are all behind you. Please have faith in us
knowing that we are fighting the war back home. The war against those trying to take America from within. jr "A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America' for an amount of up to and including his life."
May we who are protected, but pay exactly nothing for the great privilege of living in a free and prosperous nation, never forget this. Thank you. As all before me have said, Thank You. Sincerely, from me and mine to each and every one of you.
"Have no fear, guys: we think of you and pray for your success in your missions and your safety every day, and we soft candy-asses back home with our non-dangerous lives are grateful for the work you are doing for us."
Amen and prayers for you, guys, right from Brazil. Thank you for fighting for a free and good world for us all. A Prayer For Our Troops
God, hold our troops in Thy loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts They perform for us in our time of need. Amen ! http://www.lovetolearnplace.com/SpecialDays/Veteransday/SupportOurTroops.html#anchor269934 Others have expressed it far better. All I can add is my gratitude and prayers. Buddy, his team, and all our military are in my thoughts and prayers.
Same appreciative and heart-felt recognition from this family in Texas. We are indebted to all our military, and especially to those 'best of the best' willing to serve and protect all of us, even those who would undercut them and the nation. You guys are the example of courage, integrity and manliness we hold up to our children. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thanks guys. I am always in awe of all the SF types, and know that you and those like you do things that most never even dream of...or have nightmares about.
Thanks is all I can say, but it's not enough. CW4, USAR Bonum certamen certavi, cursum consummavi, fidem servavi. - 2 Timothy 7 When you come home there is a standing invite to come fish the Big River!
Buddy & team - you guys ROCK!!! Thanks for your hard work. We pray for y'all daily.
Susan Lee Thanks for your service!
I often use you as examples for my Boy Scouts as a true meaning of community service. To Buddy and your team -
I have the highest regard for you and your teammates. I completely agree with Churchill. I do sleep better knowing that highly trained and dedicated men like you are watching out for us. I am proud that we have such men as you and embarrassed that I am not one of you. There ought to be more of you, but from what I have read (For those who haven't yet, you should read Lone Survivor) you are up to the - ANY - job. Be safe. We'll pray for you! Jim God bless the SEALS and their compatriots in the forces, especially the Rangers and Deltas. I stand in awe of your abilities and commitment, and salute your service. Win a few for the good guys, and return home safely.
We know. We recognize. We appreciate.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Come home to us safe and God bless you. Really. God bless you and keep you safe. Thank you.
Buddy and team, You have my utmost respect and gratitude.
Thank you. May God bless you and keep you safe. Dear SEAL People,
Blow up the sh*t that gets in the way. When bad players level their weapons in your direction I pray to whatever God that defends warriors and freedom that you unleash enough firepower to make the minions of hell quake with f*cking envy. When you are faced with a determined adversary and you use your training, weapons and very life as a shield against forces of oppression it is my straight from the f*cking heart most fervent wish that all you leave behind is a bloody spot. May our enemies, both foreign and domestic, take note of the remains. Now I'm going to have a beer and revel in the freedom that has been won by good and honorable men. Thanks for your vigilance, service and sacrifice. Hi Buddy,
When you and your mates get home, would all of you write books about your experiences, please? I've read a few about special forces, and I always feel put in my place by your awesome discipline and power and the tough work you went through to be where you are. You guys give regular people a unique perspective on our place in the world, and if you wrote books, I'd read every one of them. I feel humbled to even make this request. Please stay safe! Meta Two from G.K. Chesterton to bolster your rugged Souls:
"The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him." - 1/14/11 "War is not the best way of settling differences; it is the only way of preventing their being settled for you." - 7/24/15 Thank you, and may God bless you! Thank you all for your service. I had the privilege of meeting a SEAL back in December, quite unexpectedly. I have great respect for what you all do for the rest of us.
Yeah, so it didn't take my hyperlink in my previous post, so I put the link about my meeting the SEAL as my homepage this time...
Buddy ,
A Crisp and Snappy Salute to you and your fellow warriors ! God-speed. Buddy et all
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. If wounded you may be treated by my favorite oldest daughter. She is the great, great, great granddaughter of a veteran, the great grand granddaughter of veteran, the granddaughter of a veteran and the daughter of a verteran. Again, thank you. THANK YOU. I am the daughter of a US Marine, the proud step-mom of a Soldier and a Marine and I can only say again THANK YOU!
I have a Wife a Daughter and a Son. Family, friends, community, a way of life that is decent and good.
I am very aware of who stands between them and those that would harm them. THANK YOU. To all armed forces personnel: ditto to what all of the preceding commenters said. Twice over.
The SEALs are the best of the best. Read Marcus Luttrell's excellent "Lone Survivor," the story of a SEAL mission in Afghanistan. I was repeatedly moved to tears by the dedication, courage and perseverance of these fine young men.
Nothing to say but THANK YOU! Come home safe. We will continue to pray for you.
I echo what all the others have said. My daughter's Navy service makes her the third generation to serve.
May you all come home safe. Rob J Many thanks and best wishes for taking on such heavy responsibility and performing your jobs so well.
Most of us are well aware of the price you pay for keeping us safe, and you are in our thoughts and prayers. Just found out that one of my wife's great uncles is a founder of the SEALs (William Acheson). God bless you guys and keep you safe.
To Buddy & Team,
Thank you for your service and God bless you all Olga To Buddy and the rest of the SEAL team,
God bless and keep you safe in all you do. It is especially wonderful at this time of year to remember the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus paid to take away all our sins. Nothing can ever destroy the salvation which he earned for us. Thank you all for your sacrifice to keep us safe. Stay safe and God bless, Mark Thank you and God Bless all of you...my son and his task force truly appreciated the support!
Good Luck to you and your Team Buddy. You are the frontline of protection for our Freedom and Liberty. God Bless and help you in your work.
We thank you for your service, honor your deeds, and cover you with our prayers.
Dear Buddy,
Our deepest thanks to you and your team. You are the few, the wise, the brave. We many are behind you. From a grateful American and a Brit. Blessings! |
