We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
MM has a few years on me, I'm only in my 62nd but she's right.
Number one is gravities relentless force..24/7/365 it pulls at your body, organs shift ever so slightly as the skeleton is crushed under it's force. Systems are constantly affected by gravity. Things begin to break down.
Working out is a great way to stave off the pull, though it's harder each year.Stretching, Tai Chi, yoga all help immensely. The sofa or easy chair is your mortal enemy.
A good go with the heavy bag and the speed bag are also great in that they make you work and you can work out bad psychologies at the same time.
I was lucky in that I cultivated most all of the above at an early age and have stayed with it. But when Ms. MM says you learn to cope she's right cause sure as the sunshines a new ache or pain will materialize out of thin air, but it's really that demon gravity...
Stay at it ...Tai Chi is a wonder all around body keeper.
