Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

More fun with Rush

Man, did Rush's CPAC speech (which we linked here) kick up a lot of dust in all quarters. He loves that: it gets him listeners, and he loves being provocative. Truth is, I have never heard Rush say a single hateful thing to anybody, although he can be tough on seminar callers. Plenty of humorous mockery, of course. As far as I can tell, the guy loves people, and respects them and their potential enough to not want them to be serfs of the State. Anyway, a few links:

Rush has been demonized ever since he hit the airwaves. As an interesting and articulate spokesman and evangelist for the Conservative cause, the Left just had to do that. They demonize anyone Conservative who attracts a following, and have done so, with the MSM's assistance, for 40 years. Rush is Everyman's Bill Buckley (except Buckley got a pass because "he was one of us" - a "sophisticated" Yalie - plus he never had a large, populist following and thus was viewed as harmless). Whether I agree with him or not about things, I see him as a national treasure and as a stimulant for debate about important subjects and principles. That is his role.

Inciting Insurrection
Yesterday was NRR’s weekly stop for Bar Night. I overheard one of the regulars lamenting that Rush Limbaugh’s rhetoric of wanting Obama to fail would incite violence from groups like the KKK. I don’t think racists wackjobs need any help

In my pre-teen years, I was taught that it was my duty to keep myself informed to the best of my ability, in order to be a responsible citizen. I read local newspapers, spent a hard to come by .35c on Time or Newsweek weekly magazine. It was a ritual to watch either Huntley-Brinkley, Douglas Edward, Peter Jennings or the most trusted man in the universe Walter Cronkite..each day. After twenty years of this, self hate set in...
..the reason ?..because I knew my values,morals and principles were not in line with the talking heads broadcasting from atop the skyscrapers of Manhattan.

In 1987 the FCC removed the Fairness Doctrine...
In October 1988 I stumbled across Rush Limbaugh on weak AM station in rural south Texas . What a shock ! He was saying things on the radio that wasn't even allowed to be thought of,. ... I was yelling at the radio.." I'm not alone, listen to him,
there are others like me out there."...now every time Rush lays the wood to the liberal establishment, I smile and applaud, knowing he is repaying just a bit, for the years they were allowed to dupe an entire country. Is he angry.?
..I sure as hell hope so! 'cause I am.

I don't get to see or hear much of rush when at home in England but I do enjoy what I do hear whilst here.....I can only say he is a national treasure and I wish we in England could produce somebody of his authority.

I listen to Rush a few times a week for an hour or so. Usually his opening monologues. He never uses hate speech or speech that might be construed as racist, sexist, antisemitic ... He does criticize liberals on substantive grounds regarding their policies and their attitudes to people. His critics, however, almost always resort to ad hominem attacks and hate speech, and almost always lie about what he said.

He is the soul of the conservative movement, which is why so many Republicans hate him.

Rush gets it. He speaks the plain language, the truths, of this world. Not many do any more. Especially politicians.

He is truly gifted. What I mean is that when he talks, I am thinking..." yea, that's what I am thinking, but do not know how to 'put it"".

I think it is time we spoke Truth to each other. Like Rush.

For my money Mr. Sykes summed it up perfectly when he said, He is the soul of the conservative movement, which is why so many Republicans hate him.

I rarely listen to Rush these days but he had a lot to do with solidifying my political opinions in the early 90's. I used to watch his TV show every night. He was outrageous and funny and dead-on with his mockery of liberals.

Good ol Rush is a genuine whore who's "love" is all in his wallet.

Good whores come to develope something close to soul but can't quite get any other job done besides whoring.
