We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Saw a beautiful flock (gaggle?) of Canadian Snow Geese last night. Thought of you and wanted to ask this question:
Are they good to eat? Is there a preferred type of goose for eating?
A cute piece of ultra liberal Seattle PC confusion: Gals in charge decided to finally do a culling program to reduce the numbers of birds on the lakes and canal (ducks and geese). Welll ya see they didn't want to order a shooting, but they did let the Chinese/Vietnamese pursue for food purposes for several weeks! Aint' they grand!
How to prepare snow goose
1. clean geese
2. sauté goose breast in butter, white wine, and crushed garlic
3. cook thoroughly until done
4. place cooked breast in Labrador's dog dish
5. finish any unconsumed wine
An urban bow hunter in Seattle shot a wild duck but it got away, later to be witnessed by many families at one of the cities most popular parks strolling around with an arrow sticking out of it. Nobody said: “Uh, oh... Now kids, that’s one reason why you don’t bow hunt in the city.”
Instead, it was “OMG! A vicious psychopath is on the loose and must be stopped!”.
This is why I’ve never shot any of the many brazen deer that frequent my mountainside garden. A reputation as a responsible hunter is preferable to being known as “That Vicious Psychopath!”. OTOH, 220v rigged to motion sensor and laced with strawberries... shhh...
Snow Goose, despite the comments, are good for a cassoulet. Time for a cassoulet recipe.
