We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
You're right, Jephnol ... Botticelli painted Jesus here looking like Venus on the half-shell in his most famous painting, only with a dress on. He gave Jesus a flowing female shape. Somehow, I've never envisioned Jesus that way. Maybe Botticelli just saw pretty near everyone like that. Could lead to problems for him along life's path.
He probably had issues with his mother. I read he kept boys company. Wasn't he one of the Bonfire of the Vanities guys? Sounds like he was trying to chase away the demons that kept popping up in his art.
Whatever. I wouldn't throw this piece out. (I'd sell it and buy a vacation house in the Keys).
