We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Free gas for my car?

Remember the lady during the campaign who said Obama will give me free gas for my car and a free house? Well, here's Ms. "I love you Barack." Good grief. It's government-as-parent, or as spouse. Her Grandma should slap her for this self-administered humiliation:

I can't watch it again. Saw it on the news earlier. I'm so cynical. My first thought was that she was a plant. I still wonder because for sure Obama's PR team needed him to look beneficent.

Obama does not brook one voice of dissent well. The sound and fury of his own compatriots has him nursing at his wife's chest. It's a monstrous tableaux of fulfilling this man's desperate need for identity that will rule how the years go forward. Everyone says he has a huge ego. I think the walls of that ego are so fragile that he will do anything to keep them up - including this little charade. I don't think he's evil. It is far worse than that: He is needy, and he does not have any foundation for an identity to fall back on, so using others is his modus operandi. That makes him far more dangerous than the predictability of an evil man.

Well, you know... not a good idea to psychoanalyze anyone from a distance, or from anywhere else for that matter. But in this case, under these circumstances... we need all the help we can get in understanding our President. As we're in for a wild ride I fear.

I think you're correct, Meta. Obama's life history reads as search for approval and validation. His very politics centered on the socialist creed. All men are equal. Upon that false premise is built his life.

gob of silly-putty, being molded, trained,rehearsed, polished to a glimmering sheen, and in the end presented, with the Operator's Manual in the wings under David Axelrod's arm.

And a damn brilliant job they did!...that Obama Model 2009.
Now the task is to wait until they are snoozing, short the black wire to the red wire, and.... poof !.. the smoke will escape..
...then breaking the mirrors should be fun.

Talk about your desperate housewives, lady I-love-you-Barack turned the creepy dial all the way up to ten and let it rip out there in TV land. She obviously has no pride and no shame. Sounds like a typical barking-mad BO supporter though, don't it?

In the 1990's, I lived for a time in northern Argentina, where a humble peasant's adobe hut would often have a framed magazine photo of Juan and Eva Peron, like saints, on the wall. I was always smugly grateful that this sort of cult of personality would remain unknown in my own country. Now I'm not so sure.

hah. I should trust my gut instincts more often. No one seemed to notice she was all sported out in church clothes, too. If she'd shown up right up-close-and-personal as she was -carefully placed with microphone nearby in a burlap sack and leaning against a grocery cart, I might have had some doubt.

Devious folks there at Fox. Did anybody else notice the stock ticker superimposed on the image of Obama and Ms. "Freebie?" I guess Wall Street is not so sanguine on the "stimulus" bill's "good news." But, hey, who really cares of someone else has to pay for her gas and shelter. Isn't it supposed to be about "from each according to his ability, to each according to her need?"

Local story down here in Florida has a local woman letting this woman use her house. She happens to be the wife of a local state legislator and is a Republican. She moved in right away. Meanwhile Lord, sorry President Obama's bureaucrats are still trying to squeeze her into some housing somewhere. if this story gets any play I bet the R will be missing from the legislator's name.
