Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Q: Why is the White House taking over the census?
A: It's the Chicago way. I've written in several places that, over the next 4 years, the Dems are going to do every unscrupulous thing they can to consolidate their power. This includes shutting down freedom of speech, making certain constitutional liberties illegal, making certain government procedures secret, and redistricting electoral entities to favor their party. This is happening as we speak and in full view of the public--right now. The unopposed success of small, seemingly inconsequential, opening moves will assure the success of much larger, behind-the-scenes-moves in a couple of years. Ultimately, the entire US will resemble Chicago, which is a third-rate dictatorship disguised as a democratically-run city. If I am correct, our last free election will have been held last year. I think I am correct. O/T ..Connect the dots
Wonder why after two, almost three weeks, Kentucky is still buried under ice with thousands out of electricity. Well Obama is punishing Sen. Mitch Mcconnell (R) Kentucky for daring to question the Führer's policies. So the people in Kentucky go without electricity for three weeks. Obama is a pimp and a bum and needs to be dealt with harshly. President Hussein's people did send in tainted peanut butter product but me dad says, that is Bush's fault.
Barack Obama doesn't care about white people.
Where is Kanye West when we need him? Do we get to make Frankfort a white city? Viking Pundit writes: "He (Schiff) was the voice in the wilderness warning of a housing collapse and recession while everyone was blissfully flipping real estate."
Krugman issued the same warning in 2005 and he was dismissed as a Bush-hater imagining dark clouds in our economic silver-lining, as John Hindraker put it in a recently 'disappeared' post ridiculing Krugman. Perhaps we should listen to Krugman. If I recall, Schiff was merely treated as a crank in his appearances on Fox News. So, who do we trust now? Krugman or Schiff? Social science tells us that the herd is usually right and the outliers are usually wrong, but the herd mentality is also responsible for bubbles. No matter how certain some people claim to be, we still don't know for sure. Brooks says 2/3 of economists favor some sort of big spending plan and about 1/3 think a spending plan is a terrible idea. Most of them are very smart men and women who mean well. "If I recall, Schiff was merely treated as a crank in his appearances on Fox News."
He was, and it so bothered me I could barely watch. Fox made the man looked haunted and paranoid. And he was right. Right. He has always been right. I had a visceral reaction to the way he was treated so that when I look at Schiff now, I feel very sad and want to yell or something. ` More nonsense about Vietnam from a shallow tart without any personal experience of the time.
Kathy Shaidle wasn't even born when South Vietnam became a military dictatorship engineered by the Demonrat government of USA. Do we have something in common after all, Leag. Who with and where did you serve in SVN? Maybe we crossed paths over there.
You missed a direct question, Cajun Boy. Luther asked you if you'd been in SVN during the war. And perhaps to further broaden any fleeing on your part, let me ask: Were you in Vietnam during the war?

"Station owners complain they can't get good ratings or make any money with progressive talk, but that's nonsense. "
Bill Press knows that the owners are talking nonsense. Yes, the owners could make big money with liberal talk radio but they are just too stupid to do it. When did Bill become an expert on radio station operation? Vietnam. We fought there and beat the hell out of the the VC and NVA but we couldn't beat the fabricated reports coming from the American press.
No sense in fighting that war again any more than the Civil War or WWII, Korea or any of the others. Why? The current atmosphere in the USA, coupled with it's vastly different demographics and much more tribal factions provide us with a hugely more difficult problem than correcting any mistake made in the 1960's and 1970's in Vietnam. Did I say tribal? Yes indeed. Every non WASP American has decided to hyphenate themselves. A anthropological tribalism they use as much as any barrio or ghetto gang "colors" differentiate them into tribes. 97% of African-Americans voted for Obama .. that's not just pride, that's mindless tribalism. Their concern for the values that established this country mean little to nothing to them. Old dead white men created the nation on the backs of slavery....that's how they see it....they forget the 600,000 who died in our Civil War, in part for emancipation. The hispanics are ravenously revanchist, caring not a wit for our Constitutional ways. Our course is now a future killing field as socialist deminish personal growth and achievement for "the common good". levelling hoi polloi to the lowest common denominator. This is our battle today, not looking back thirty five years. Let us go forward and meet the socialist and tribalist who are distroying this country and quit fighting the last war. "We fought there and beat the hell out of the the VC and NVA but we couldn't beat the fabricated reports coming from the American press."
What makes you think we can beat the press this time? That would have to be our first strategy... that and a million-man march on DC. Just for starters in this weaponless war... ` What makes you think we can beat the press this time?
Meta, I'm not sure what school of logic got you to the above statement predicated on anything I said. But since you asked. The press is no longer four or five influential entities molding public opinion. We've got the internet, cable TV, and a fairly solid AM conservative radio confederation. It's much harder for a Janet Cooke or Walter J. Duranty to mislead the American public. However, beating the press wasn't my focus anyway. Those however are a few examples of how you get the Grey Lady to the edge of bankruptcy. As far as making "beating the press" a first strategy, well no one has ever done that and I'm not sure I want a controlled press. I'll take the free press every time. Now the million man march I'm behind 100%. And I'd have every person carry a broom as a symbol for a rifle. (I'd actually prefer a real rifle but some knucklehead would also bring ammo and then you got trouble in River City and it ain't just pool) My point was that fighting the last war isn't going to help us win the one we have going on now. Yesterday's gone and you can't get it back, but you can fight today's fight against the commies. Habu,
"...what school of logic got you to the above statement predicated on anything I said." (Habu) "...we couldn't beat the fabricated reports coming from the American press." (Habu) There ya go. Who got Obama elected? Anyways, I think we're on the same page. ` Bill Press fails to see that the free market is working perfectly when it comes to radio. In markets that are saturated with liberals (Madison, WI & Portland, OR), of course they will show "competitive" numbers for progressive talk.
The fact is that their message provides something that this form of media cannot profit from. If it were, we would have more. The "greed" of the owners would usurp their will to promote the conservative message. Oh, for goodness sake, Leag ... you know that anything to do with rotten peanut butter is Jimmy Carter's fault. You can't blame President Bush for everything. Or at least, you can, but it would mean you are deranged. BDS, know what I mean?
Marianne MM, Jimmy Carter didn't know peanuts about peanuts. His late brother, who I kinda liked, Billy , I think ran the business. Remember Billy Beer. The guy drank all the profits. Jimmy got to run the Country which he knew less than peanuts about. Ciao una bella.
hee hee. Jappy, I'm going to change my 'bliss' from writing a book about my life and laughing to: (I want a full line for this.)
THE BROTHERS OF OUR PRESIDENTS. I got so excited I hit the wrong button.
We know about Bill and Hilary's bros. What about Obama's? That poor guy who lives in a paper shack? And his auntie who needs to be deported but refuses to go so she moved to Chicago, Land of the Free and Recycled Humanity. Obama to his bro: "Uh, um.. so look, uh, um.. I'm like.. uh.. the most important..uh.. man in the universe.... could you paint that tin roof or something? Here's ten bucks." ` "Obama to his bro: "Uh, um.. so look, uh, um.. I'm like.. uh.. the most important..uh.. man in the universe.... could you paint that tin roof or something? Here's ten bucks.""

Mam, it ain't me complaint but me daddy's.
He blames it on Bush and deifies mudboy Hussein. It's a miracle I survived the Demonrat house and society of me youth. The old pervert deified JFK, back in the day. The goal of the Democrats to take control over the census may well be to influence how states are redistricted, but the MEANS by which they hope to do this is surely to apply those infamous "statistical corrections" for "undercounted minorities" to the actual enumeration.
Mita, yall must be joined at the neck with the boy.
Did your daddy drop yall on the heads before or after yall's SVN tour? Maybe you were Air Force... plenty of practice at escape and evasion school up around Spokane way. In which case we wouldn't have met.
