We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

A bad week

Two tax cheats remove themselves from consideration today, despite admin support. Furthermore, Europe and Canada are freaking out about "Buy American." A trade war? It's been a bad week for the O, and it's only Tuesday. I do not wish the admin ill; I wish them wisdom and honesty - and quickly.


Obama does dhimmitude? Powerline. That is not wise.

'Obama sees this as helpful to his plans to essentially withdraw from Afghanistan and Iraq during his first term in office.'"

IF the above is accurate;

Can a sitting President be charged with treason? Aside from everything else... this really pisses me off. 'al Qaeda', Iran and Syria must be creaming their pants over this guy being elected.

I read somewhere that Ahmadinejad called Obama something like a wimp for wanting to talk.

I never thought about treason. Very interesting. Nothing will happen, of course.

Yes, I saw that as well. Ahmadinejad's statement.

My treason comment was a bit much... but when I read that quote all I could think of was deja vu all over again, re my war. And then I thought of all those who sacrificed their all, for nothing, because of a lack of will among our politicians... then I got pissed.

When will we be honored and privileged to hear/see our first Fireside Chat from FDR, Jr? You know, some eloquent words of comfort and reassurance from The One? Something to send a thrill up our collective legs? Isn't that his job? My day-to-day business contacts all reflect doom and gloom and a sense that The Ship of State is rudderless and heading for the rocks. The financial markets and overall level of business confidence are in need of some cheerleading- followed by cutting the pork out of the stimulus bill- to get this economy off dead center. The One is not delivering charismatic leadership as advertised.

He's had a few little private press chats this week. In one he made a joke about Jessica Simpson getting fat. d'oh. And I read, as well, that the press has been told to only photograph Michelle from the waist up.

I am not standing in the aisle at Walmart reading the tabloids.

We should be so fortunate as to have a Wal-Mart... in a few years. The fight is not over... no matter how many have already given up. I still trust in the common sense of this country. Naively, perhaps.

Martin then accused the President of committing another cardinal offense for a Black man: staring him in the eye, like this was back during Segregation times when Black folks weren't allowed to look White folks in the eye and had to get out of their way if they were walking on the sidewalk.
The whole deck is made up of race cards, and they'll be dealing from the bottom for the foreseeable future. I'll be sitting this hand out and heading for the bar.

A White House staffer present at the meeting was quoted by the source as saying, “Petraeus made the mistake of thinking he was still dealing with George Bush instead of with Barack Obama.”
The good General thought he was dealing with a man, not an angst-ridden, spoiled brat, affirmative-action-oriented teen-ager.

Europe and Canada are freaking out huh? I don't get it. We're finally listening to what the world told us to do - to go away and leave 'em alone. It's Canada's time to bestride the world like a Collossus. Or perhaps Belgium's. Go for it boys, it's all yours. You've got your way. Hell, we're even going to socialize our medical and banking systems for you. Then you'll love us, right?

But seriously. They can stick it where their high efficiency non-global warming-but-mercury-producing flourescent lights don't shine.

It is amazing to see that Prime Minister François Fillon understands the concept of return on investment.

You would think the idea that spending should have a tangible result and leave a country with an improved infrastructure and increased competitiveness would come from the US. France?

But no, the largest pile of debt financed pork in the history of mankind is originating in the USA.

How the roles are reversing right before our eyes!

Mitch McConnell, Senate Republican leader, said: “We all agree that we need to do something, but I don't think we should just completely act like the amount is irrelevant. Just to put a trillion dollars in context, if you started spending the day that Jesus was born and you spent a million dollars every single day, you still wouldn’t have spent a trillion dollars. This is a lot of money.”

I hope the Republicans just say no. Let it be on Obama and the Democrats alone.
