We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
"Our friends on the left have put their faith and hope in President-elect Barack Obama. Those of us still on the fence about him hope that he is at least half as great as they say. That is more than the Bush-haters ever offered Bush, so perhaps it is a place to start."
The left was hoping for “change”. But then, when the ‘rally around the flag effect’ petered out, so did the right. I’m hoping for a change to pragmatic rationality, away from from the tribalistic idealism so easily taken advantage of.
Tangentially, did you catch the Anchoress post on Hollywood Squares quotes? Pretty funny stuff.
