Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Yes, indeedy, BD, a Little Ice Age is heading our way, just as the governments of most of the world's sovereign countries, including our own, are planning to beggar their economies to counter manmade global warming.
Sometimes it becomes a moral duty to drag one's feet as the country marches bravely into disaster. Trouble is, we have so many disasters pending right now -- radical goverment overspending to counter the recession, the coming imposition of "universal health care" [that ought to give us cold chills], and Congressional imposiition of damfool rules, like no more incandescent light bulbs [they work too well and don't have mercury in them, like CFBs]and other busybody/useless regulations imposed on us by the all-knowing Democratic Congress. So let's drag our feet on the way to the abyss, boys and girls It's the patriotic thing to do. Marianne Even PRAVDA says it's true! I can't quite tell anymore, whether Pravda is a more reliable source than NY Times...it's close, I admit! But I think Pravda has the edge these days, in trust and believability!!
Sadly, our government will no doubt hasten the coming of the next Ice Age by shortsighted and wrongheaded measures such as cow flatulence taxes.
I saw something related in the regular news during the past week, but lost the link.
Basically, some group finally noticed something that has been around the blogosphere for quite a while: during past glacial periods, CO2 was higher than it is now. From this, they expressed a worry that continuing CO2 buildup could tip Earth into another Ice Age. Should have been on FARK, though, because their conclusion was that CO2 buildup should be slowed/stopped - to stop global warming! I guess warming might get so out-of-hand the result might be miles-deep ice... John A .... Most of the ninnies who populate the Global Warmening fantasy world, have very little knowledge of the natural world. They think CO2 is a Bad Thing, when actually it is an essential gas, and a unversal fertilizer for all living plants. If you want to live in a sand box, which these silly folks evidently want to do, eliminate all CO2.
They haven't studied climate science either. They forgot to include the Little Ice Age and the Medieval Warming Period when they developed the "hockey stick" computer prediction, thereby producing a totally false factoid which has skewed all their results since. Garbage in, garbage out, as the old computer truism goes. I have faith in the ingenuity of modern science to keep us all from freezing in our beds. But if all else fails, come on down to Texas, the southern part of which should remain ice free, and we'll find room for you somehow. We've got oil, see, and we're willing to share. If someone will only muzzle that truly evil Harry Reid before he gives away all our new drilling sites to the "greenies," we might even save the earth. Marianne You are right. I've heard that some want CO2 listed as a hazardous substance. Unfortunately, ignorance is not always bliss.
Jephnol, if you are cold now just wait till the end of this week. Just got in from plowing this white stuff. 7 inches at my house.
Pravda's Article On The Coming Ice Age
Nice image of a snowball earth. I've been reading Pravda of late. Far as I can tell, it's as good as the New York Times, though it might be a little harder on Israel. Balancing this out, sometimes they have good articles on girls, and other interesting subjects, often overlooked by the Times. And, their coverage of UFO's is a lot better. Pravda's article on ice age here---

Oh great! I just looked at the forecast. I'm going to have to spear me one of those Mastodons and make a fur coat. One for me and one for the little lady. I swore we'd never wear matching clothes, but what are you going during an ice age. MM, Regarding the ninnies: I knew we were in trouble when I first learned people believed Zeno the dark lord of the universe had imprisoned Thetans on this planet by tying them to a volcano and blowing them up. If people can believe this then people can believe anything and believe it stubbornly. I've said it before... Buy ammo, make some popcorn and take a seat, because this show is just going to get weirder and weirder. The greatest show on earth... The gods must be laughing. Uh, you guys do know, don't you, that the guy who wrote the linked Pravda article is also a 9/11 conspiracy nut?
http://sweetness-light.com/archive/pravda-is-back-to-its-bad-old-ways Really? I mean, really?? An article in Pravda authored by an anti-American 9/11 truther? You guys are rewriting the book on desperation. If this doesn't trigger some introspection, I've no idea what will.
Introspection? Deary! This is the inner net, not the inner peace; not even the inner you or the inner me...
For a website that inspires introspection, try this. Your ignorance of the rather meaningful semantic difference between 'inner' and 'inter' comes as little surprise. When those you look to for thought leadership point you to an article by a 9/11 conspiracy theorist that appears on a site with specialties ranging from Klu Klux Klan defense to the latest news about space aliens and mutant humanoid canine offspring, and you don't wonder whether you can trust your sources, the only thing I'd expect you to be expert of is drool.
Not sure anyone here is looking to anyone for "thought leadership" as you so inntroerestingly phrase it- scary concept. And about as funny as intravenous pumps. (Oh, did I get that wrong, too? drool...drooool...)
Here is another important story for your blog that the driveby liberal media would never report: http://english.pravda.ru/photo/report/mutant-3050
