We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Ye are the salt of the earth; but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
1. It is reasonably well known that Bach's St. Matthew Passion is supposedly incomplete - it probably contained many more things that have been lost over time. I've often wondered if one or more bits covering 5:13 was one of those. I think it would have made for great music, no?
2. I love ginger beer. Ginger beer is a requisite in our refrigerator, and we should be careful to see that the supply doesn't get too low, especially when the weather doesn't permit our going out. I just wish we had a refrigerator control panel with a low ginger beer warning light. It would be handy, yes? Perhaps I should rig one up.
3. Amazon has 2009 Sarah Palin calendars on sale - in very limited quantities. Quite nice. A fetching picture of her holding an over-under on the cover. A Beretta?
