Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

The NYT today not only covers for Obama, but they completely refuse to report the facts that every internet user knows.

Hot Rod is sitting tight to see what deals come his way- he holds a lot of cards seems to me. Meanwhile, crosstown at Obama transition HQ they must be wondering what it is going to "cost" to get rid of Hot Rod, cost being $$$$ out-of-pocket and, most of all, political cost to Obama. Who knows what Hot Rod might say to the FBI and a grand jury?
The spotlights are all on Chicago now, just what they didn't want to happen, the auto bailout headed for defeat is old news already. Wonder what the investigative reporter population of Chicago will be by week's end? Didn't some of us predict this would happen when you elect a Chicago pol the leader of the free world? The Arkansas bog is a joke compared to Chicago, the real big leagues of corruption. I never tune in to the morning show pablum, but happened quite by accident across GMA or the equivalent today in time to hear some sickeningly sincere blondie opine in re: Hot Rod, "Just how much wiretapping is the government engaging in? Is this something the American people should be concerned about?"
Catch a hypocritical Republican engaged in multiple extra-marital affairs through wiretapping and the headlines scream, rightly, "Hypocritical Republican Caught With His Pants Down". Wiretap a smarmy Democrat with bad hair attempting to undermine the Constitution and the talking heads express concern about how much wiretapping the Bush administration is engaged in!? Only armed militia's can defend the Constitution against these greedheads now. Time to rebuild this Republic according to the original vision. We'd be better off if we jailed every current officeholder and had the 2009 graduating class of Hillsdale College run the country. Yearly down here in Florida when hurricane season starts all the news outlets do preparedness stories. Up north the weather ma tells you it's gonna snow.
In my experience reporting that the NYT is a leftest liberal newspaper that doesn't report the truth an is basically Pravada USA is similar to saying the South is humid in the summertime. We'll all be better off when the marketplace finally drives a stake through it's heart. Such a fine mess. Be sure to thank our MSM. Apparently the news about the corrupt Ill. Gov. was somewhat well known. It looks as though supposedly diligent and well paid reporters chased obscure Alaskans for dirt on Gov. Palin while hard news from Chicago was ignored during Obamas' nomination and election.
Just spinning the wheels here, hope this never happens, but wondering what would happen if Sen. Obama had to step aside before Inauguration. Has the Electoral College confirmed the vote? He is called the Pres-Elect but is he Pres-Elect before the Electoral College confirms? I think the young, healthy Senator Obama made a future Pres. Biden seem quite unlikely to voters. Might not be as unlikely today. Such a fine mess. Could make Whitewater look like a stroll in the park. Ah well. If this slows down these Chicago politicians plans to "change" D.C. it could be okay. From a small business point of view, gridlock is not necesssarily the worst thing for big government. I'm no fan of Obama, but I fail to see how he needs cover here, or how this scandal even taints him. Unless he was giving recommendations on how much to charge, who to charge the most, who should get the seat, or anything remotely outside the law, then he's scot free.
Why does it matter if he met with Bilbovich? Bilbovich and his wife Bilbobitch were the two doing all the conniving with their good friend Jesse Jackson (and Jr.). Obama is a side story. Guilt by association? That was used and rejected many times with Rezko, Ayers, and a host of others. Obama is associated with guilt all over the place and has skated by. Gateway Pundit's links don't say that Obama met with Blago. Gateway reproduces a screen shot of a headline on Blago's website announcing congratulations to Obama and it says that Blago "discusses" Obama's replacement. The article under the headline indicates that the congratulations and discussion of the replacement process refers to a Blago "announcement," not a conversation with Obama. Whether this was in a press release, a press conference or some other forum, isn't specified. The confusing nature of the headline isn't surprising coming from Blago who would have loved to create the impression on his own website, on the day after an Obama victory, that he is close to Obama.
Of course, I don't know if he met with Obama or not that day, but that article does not say that Blago met with Obama to congratulate him or to discuss the appointment. That interpretation of the headline was superimposed by Gateway pundit. Gateway also links to one blog that said Obama would meet with Obama that day. How they knew this is anyone's guess, but bloggers say things that aren't true or aren't going to happen all the time. And those bloggers issued a clarification saying that they don't know if Blago actually met with Obama. http://www.connecttristates.com/news/news_story.aspx?id=233822 Found this at NewsBusters...
Who will fill Obama's senate seat? Ill. governor meeting with Obama today By Carol Sowers Wednesday, November 05, 2008 at 10:39 a.m. CHICAGO, ILL. -- Now that Barack Obama will be moving to the White House, his seat in the U.S. Senate representing Illinois will have to be filled. That's one of Obama's first priorities today. He's meeting with Governor Rod Blagojevich this afternoon in Chicago to discuss it. Illinois law states that the governor chooses that replacement. There's already been speculation about his selection...from Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. of Chicago's south side who co-chaired Obama's presidential campaign, to recently-retired state senate president Emil Jones, to the governor himself. It's likely the governor will make his decision quickly so the new senator will get some seniority before newly-elected senators take office in January. Part of the timing depends on when Obama officially vacates his senate seat. KHQA's Alexis Hunt is speaking with Illinois Senator John Sullivan today about his thoughts on that replacement process, his time working with Obama in the state senate, and if there's a chance Sullivan might play a role in the Obama administration. Watch KHQA News at 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. tonight to hear what he has to say. From what I see, it's hardly a meaningful lie - akin to me saying "No, I wasn't at the Taj Mahal Hotel" when I was standing outside when the attacks occurred. I wasn't involved, and was not interested in getting involved. Hardly a lie that would implicate me.
I do think Obama is a weird fellow for creating the "Office" of the President Elect. But Bush has, and I think quite professionally, realized his views lack credibility (for right or wrong) and has deferred to THE ONE so as to create a fine air of continuity, something HIS predecessor was loathe to do. Overall, I see this transition as being Bush's fine handling, NOT Obama's, even though the press is playing it up for THE ONE. Obama. It solves all your problems. Buy it now. The Electoral College meets Monday to ratify the results of the national election. Not only is there no such thing as an "Office of The President Elect" - if there were, The Øne would not even be occupying it yet.
We hold our president to lower standards of behavior than high school athletes. Guilt by association is always enough to get the kid who happened to be at a kegger thrown off the football team, whether or not he was imbibing. I, for one, consider all muslims guilty by association of attacking Western Civilization. Call me crazy, but they are required to kill the infidel, and that's me! Øbama is off to a great start to his stated goal of restoring America's image! Buy the ticket, take the ride! We are in for one heck of a 44th Presidency... Not only is there no Office of the President Elect but Obama as of this writing isn't even the President elect and won't be until the Electoral College meets and votes him as such.
Right now he is BO, Senator from an Ill state with more to hide than we'll ever know. |
