Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Jason Redman:
I personally appreciate the sacrifices you're making in service to your country. Get well and kick some ass. Thank goodness for our soldiers --without 'em this country would've long ago become a distant memory.
Distant, and no doubt illegal too, on pain of the hangman's noose. I hope those who criticised the notice in the original post read this...this man paid a price for all of us...in return I myself respect his wish to express himself as he sees fit...God bless him.
I did see this fine tribute to Jason Redman in the original post.
I respect his right to express himself any way he wishes. Do I have to get shot in the face to earn the right to express myself any way I wish, or is that a given in a free-speech society? Perhaps you might come up with a price for me to pay to all of you; or should I remain mute with fear that I might offend with my opinion? ` feel free to offend...but don't be surprised at peoples opinion of you.
Thud,
I've never been surprised at people's opinion of me. The only thing that constantly surprises me about people is how smart and self-righteous they perceive themselves in their tunnel vision. Here's something for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qV7cWhmoG9w ` your voice among the rest makes the choir on the farm sound like no other , just beautiful
meta...I don't consider the soldier in question self righteous...I doubt many others do either.
I don't think Meta was speaking of the Seal, the Navy Seal, Thud.
Let's get this back on track for ya, Thud. I hope you enjoyed the video, by the way.
Here is how this goes: should I remain mute with fear that I might offend with my opinion? ` #4.1 Meta on 2008-12-09 01:53 (Reply) feel free to offend...but don't be surprised at peoples opinion of you. #4.1.1 thud (Link) on 2008-12-09 07:53 (Reply) Thud, I've never been surprised at people's opinion of me. The only thing that constantly surprises me about people is how smart and self-righteous they perceive themselves in their tunnel vision. Here's something for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qV7cWhmoG9w ` #4.1.1.2 Meta on 2008-12-09 17:45 (Reply) Now, if you'll notice, I responded directly to your charge that I should not be surprised at other's opinions of me should I make some opinionated comment. That's it. I made no reference to the soldier. I am talking to you; I was talking to you. As far as what other people think, as you alluded in your response, I don't give a rat's ass. I have a mind. I use it. It seems you and a few others don't respect the opinions of others unless they agree with you. Your problem. ` Oh you were talking to me...I had no idea we had met so I was not sure how you could judge my character..it seems I was mistaken and you are in fact all knowing...and rightly proud too...congratulations.
Aren't you such a clever boy. Your mum must be so proud.
This has become dull now and the company on this thread rather childish...I will continue to uphold the seals right to behave in the way he wishes to....the others who seem to enjoy their freedom to denigrate this fine man fought for, can happily whine away..off you go chaps.
"...the others who seem to enjoy their freedom to denigrate this fine man fought for, can happily whine away..."
Where do you find this on the thread, Thud? No one is denigrating this soldier. ` Meta...your words..."what a jerk"...if that is your version of admiration for this young man then you are further gone than I thought....at least have the decency to stand up for your opinion of him...or is he the only one that again in your words...lacks grace?
Wrong thread, Thud. This is the dull, childish thread that you can't seem to stay away from.
If you wish to address my comments from the original thread, say so. I don't mind repeating myself. ` thud, i know this gal, netwise that is, and she'd never insult a fighting man --she's actually pretty emotional on the subject and therefore she's now tongue-tied in straightening out this contretemps. Way up top of this thread she went off-thread to make a personal policy statement unrelated to the topic. You then took her to be referring to the topic --and you were righteous to object --as she would have too, under the same misunderstanding.
Then, the rest of the conversation flowed poisoned from that well of misunderstanding --which i'm here offering my (quite unrequested) analysis of. Also, i used a preposition to end that last sentence with. No misunderstanding or tongue-tied Meta here, Buddy. Thud challenged me and I answered - on topic. My point being do I have to take a bullet to the face to be respected or treated fairly for my opinions. Obviously, that Thud brought it up again in this post proves there are a few who can't allow me my opinion. They gotta take the bitch down, don't you know.
Very strange, as well, that Luther agreed with me on the original post and has supported me here - and yet, do you believe it? He's ignored. Whadya think..... think maybe there are a few guys on this blog who can't stand a woman who stands up for herself? Reckon I'm right on that considering you felt the need to parse me out just a bit to Thud. ` well i missed the beginning --didn't know there was a precursor --i just picked up the back n forth here --and thot i'd spotted da problem upthread. Anyhoo --i would've done the same even if you wusn't a gal --i often stick my nose if i spot a misunderstanding. many's the outbreak of violence around here i've prevented back when the place was full of little wild critters --i guess i'm just stuck with the habit now.

A comment from an active-duty SEAL in our comments section, on our post about Jason Redman's Sign on the Door last week: That should have been the first clue there was a precursor to this thread. As well, throughout this thread, I make references to the original thread, and Thud quotes from it. I don't think anyone was coming to blows over this, Buddy. Thud was having another go at me, and I was simply sparring. No blood, no tears. ` hmm --i can't rite gud no more --i meant i wuz so used to social work here, meaning here where i am in the fisikle world, refereeing them durn kids when they were little --not here at maggies --
Meta: You're just hostile and boring and tiresome and no one is interested in your opinion.
Well you certainly brought a lot to the conversation... and speak for yourself 'ahem'. Some of us like to hear differing opinions... if you don't, don't read it. Maybe you're another of those that can't stand a woman having her own opinion that might differ from the normal 'group' think.
hahaha... "...no one is interested in your opinion."
Oh yeah? You speak for everyone, do ya? Use a qualifier next time and you might be taken half-way seriously. Go suck your thumb and rock back and forth. ` Luther,
Why would some chickenshit pantywaist who's afraid to identify himself pick a fake nic like AHEM? A guttural throat noise as a name is so gross... arrgh arrr ar hheh sschnnich cough cough cack cack harumph erp phwizzz cack yer hostile hhak erp Meta and phrwumph no one coff hak likes you. Ew. ` I don't know, Meta. It is an odd choice. Maybe it's the sound they use to distract everyone while they take money out of the collection plate at church. Or maybe to hide the sounds of themselves playing pocket pool while sitting on them hard pews.
Luther! You nailed it once again. AHEM is engaged in an endless circle jerk of halo preening. What a naughty perv.
You know what? I don't think I like him. ` Well Meta... when you're speaking with one voice for all the voices in your head it can get pretty crowded... so a little halo preening gets one back to earth, or somewhere. But I agree, doesn't seem like there is much to like.
It's a sad thing. His weight. Girls shun him. I mean, he's so fat when God said "Let there be light." he told AHEM to move his fat ass out of the way.
Damn shame. ` Well it is a shame about the weight... but then there's the age as well. Ahem is so old that when he was born the Dead Sea was barely getting sick.
You say! Why he's so old he's mentioned in the shout-out at the end of the Bible.
Shew. coff hack cack... Chick chum he ain't. ` |
