Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Thanks for the Shrink Rap link. Seriously, while there may be a considerable amount to be learned from the "science" of psychology/psychiatry/whatever, the signal-to-noise ratio in that domain is akin to the SETI project, IMNSHO. One wonders if we wouldn't all be better off in the long run without such nonsense permeating our culture.

Lots of boomer bashing. Understandable but can be debated a bit too. Some boomers have created a lot of wealth among other things. And many boomers are heirs to their parents hard work and effort and so are inheritng too. There is lots more there than just debt and broken promise. Do not know if it is true but it seems like there are fewer and smaller wars and famines then in my younger times. In some ways the 60's culture, i.e., sex, drugs and rock and roll was a fairly short lived thing. It really was (and is) sex, drugs and disco or rap, or country, or sports or politics. You name it. In real life, sex and drugs can link to a lot of things, not just the 60's and rock and roll. Although boomers and rock and rollers displayed prehaps the most real enthusiasm for denial and unreality, at that particular time, much of it was pulled up short in the late 60's and 70's. Reality did set in for many and it came with some enthusiasm for hard work and family too. Most of the 60's bars and communes emptied quickly for pretty good reasons. Seems that many boomers, even though in denial in lots of ways, still figured out that a home with a spouse and kids offered them a foundation for building a good life.

Speaking of rock and roll, heard John McCain is having a hard time finding a song that fires up his base. Heard he likes Chuck Berry. Johnny Be Good is always good.
Kate posted this Y2Kyoto song by the Minnesotans For Global Warming (M4WM). I think it would be good too. haha. These two young guys are pretty funny. The wood stove in the old motor home is a nice touch.
