We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
"An academic study of the National Basketball Association, whose playoffs continue tonight, suggests that a racial bias found in other parts of American society has existed on the basketball court as well." -- Lead sentence to a May 2 front-page story by sportswriter Alan Schwarz about an academic paper alleging discrimination in foul calls against black NBA players.
Chris Cuomo, beating the 'America's inherent racism' drum.
I say we all admit that the odds are, we all feel for comfy with strangers to the extent they look like us. So sue me. My defense will be "that's how we evolved, it's a survival mechanism". AND, it's not to say we have to LIKE the trait--just that it does exist. AND, it doesn't even apply on an individual basis--it's a group thing. Threat evaluation, bred into us 5 million years ago, as little Australopithicenes. AND, modern humanity has made great strides in manually over-riding the old archaic traits. ESPECIALLY in the USA. So, screw Chris Cuomo.
