We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
If you go to a NASCAR race, I'd make it the Daytona 500.
Few things compare to it's atmosphere, tradition, respect, history ..not to mention they go really really fast..you can fly in . The airport is right next to the track and take a cab to the entrance or if you drive, study a map and prior to getting to the exit off Interstate 95 cut east at Flagler Beach of just below and enter the track from the east...a good deal less traffic, plus after getting on A1A you'll no doubt pass the hotel you'll stay at and can drop off the non essentials...Take a big brimmed garden hat ..yeah it'll look funky but you'll be exposed to the sun for about 10 hours...even if you hook up with someone with a suite I'd do the race from the stands..the suite do not give you the feeling of the event
Nope ya make a race...
John Kerry may have not been the best candidate, but sheesh - do a little research. He never said that quote. Maureen Dowd did when she was making fun of him (column entitled "Pride and Prejudice" 3/18/04 in the New York Times).
